Guest guest
As we [impatiently] await the release of R37, I selected R29 for today's class. It was next on my list of newer rounds to revisit. I hadn't taught this one since it came out a couple of years ago. When R29 first came out I was lukewarm about it, in part because I had loved R28 so much and was sad to see it go. For some reason at the time R29 didn't click with me (kind of like R35) and I only taught it for 5-6 weeks. This second time around, however, was a whole new experience! I had a blast with R29 today! I've always like the Laffy Taffy warmup song and there are some fun kicks in this one! Double jab R, L cross, L upper, R knee, R front kick, L back kick, back fist, roundhouse. Section 4's part b is outstanding with all those kicks and crescent kicks, and you ever go wrong with two Fergie songs? (FYI - " Boom Boom Pow " is on HHH6 and I can't get it out of my head!) I did use the turbo for a mix of my own at some point - gotta love the " BOOTY, HOP HOP! " where you stick out the tush to 12:00 then jump around in a circle and do it again in the other direction. We did 3 turbos today and I think I kicked my own butt! I like that there is a hook kick in this round, even if I'm not good at it (I did a side kick instead) because it's something to work on / improve at / eventually show off. The hook kick, back fist, jenga, and upward blocks add some nice variety here and there. I did my own abs this time - basically Ab Ripper 200 exercises only two phrases per exercise and side, along with some goodies of my own thrown in such as " Leg Downs " and " The Human X " . Next week I will relearn Finesse (Shake Your Money Maker, love this song!) , Legs, Abs and T'ai Chi and do R29 in its completion. I walked an convoluted 2 miles home from the gym in the sunshine and am about to take a catnap, complete with cats.Feeling so Three Thousand and Eight,
