It will help him sit somewhat up, but still be comfortable. He can watch tv or even nap on it. Hayden still uses his and loves it. You can get them at Target. He could barely sit up either. We leaned him on pillows in a pack-n-play when we could not hold him. And he preferred to stand to play. Within 2 weeks he was sitting alone. Give it time. I know it is hard seeing him like that. I will be praying tomorrow is better for him. Keep us posted.((HUGS)) TashaMommy of 4 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, TexasSeries of 6 casts for 14 months. They've even had the physical therapist in to check him out. He's just acting stubborn like "I don't like this and I'm not going to deal with it!". Sigh. a From: Jane Bigler <janemhar (DOT) com>infantile scoliosis treatment @groups. comSent: Thu, April 8, 2010 7:25:51 PMSubject: Re: [infantile_scoliosi s] First Cast and HATES it So sorry a! Grace was similar this last casting and it was her 3rd, so for us, I knew something wasn't quite right. Have you actually set him up on the side of the bed (feet dangling) to see if he really can? That was our problem this time. The front of the cast was SO low (we couldn't tell by looking at her laying down) that she couldn't sit up without it cutting into her legs and thus causing pain. Even if it doesn't look like it is too long in front, maybe ask them to trim and/or flare out the bottom edge anyway just to see if it helps ease a bit of pressure. Hope your night goes well. Let us know how you both are in the morning. *hugs* Jane From: a <danceswiththesun>infantile scoliosis treatment @groups. comSent: Thu, April 8, 2010 3:55:49 PMSubject: [infantile_scoliosi s] First Cast and HATES it Doc got his cast this morning (it's lime green- I let big brother pick the color out so he could "feel involved"). However, since he's woken up, he's cried non-stop. He can't sit upright on his own anymore. He can't stand anymore. And when he's not awake, he's asleep. He's just so listless. He won't even try to move or roll over after the first attempt left him on his belly. He just lays there and stares at the ceiling and crying until he falls asleep. He does calm down when I pick him up, but I've got such horrible fibromyalgia, it's sapping all my strength to pick him up with the added three or so pounds. They've come in and checked him over repeatedly, and there's nothing "wrong" with him or his cast that would be causing the behavior. So, I ask you, is my normally mellow man just throwing a huge temper tantrum and pity party? Or should I be seriously concerned? They're keeping him overnight for observation and hopefully we'll go home in the morning.a, Doc's Mommy- 15 months casted to 17 degrees from 44.
