Thank you to all of you who have posted here and on Matson's Caringbridge site,

for the emails and prayers. I can't tell you how much it all means to us. Your

support, words of encouragement and notes make this more bearable in some sense.

Today is Day 4 post op and they finally removed that darned NG tube, which was

causing Matson so much stomach pain. He is still hooked up to all the IV's,

cathater and monitors but I think today will be the day he is able to move

forward in healing....He is still in a lot of pain and cries alot, is very

restless and can't sleep well continuously, but he smiled this morning and says

he wants some balloons and to go swimming. In awhile he gets to try some jello

and crackers. He is still pretty angry, gets mad at me and pretty much anyone

who tries to talk to him, but I just keep explaining everything as simply as I

can for him. In his mind he has got to be wondering what the heck has happened!

I did find a decent book on Amazon that has illustrations and such to help

prepare him for what is wrong with his spine and why we had to go to the

hospital for surgery. I will pos

It really means alot to know that you all are thinking of him and praying and

sending good thoughts. This has been rough, so much harder than I ever imagined

it could be. But Matson is one tough 4 year old and I know we will make it

through this. I can't tell you how much of difference the private room has made

as well (we got moved last night). Why aren't all hospitals set up with private

rooms, who heals well with strangers, loud noises and chaos?

Here is the Caringbridge site where I have been doing updates, kind of a central

location for family and friends.

, thank you so much for emailing my mother in law. We all remember you guys

and I appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness more than you know. We are now

on the Orthopedic Rehab Floor in Room 142 (where we will be staying put).

You all are such strong and amazing parents and I am so thankful for this group

and every single one of you! Thank you Heahter for your continued amazing

insight and wisdom....you are the inspiration.

Best regards,
