Hi Noah,

This does help a lot, thank you very much for taking the time! I actually like Tony a lot but I like Chalene too (I don't do TJ at all though, I'm too dance-impaired for it). I like the idea of the shorter workouts too. I think, as you suggest, I'll try out what I have and see if either clicks with me for a long term commitment! Thanks again!

Re: Chalene Extreme

Kathy,I love CLX because all the workouts are closer to 30 mins instead of 1 hour. I love Chalene, and her personality is very motivating and sincere, but I also own all the TurboJam DVDs and loved those too. I could be biased though because TurboJam helped me lose 30 pounds and get back in shape. The workouts themselves are different than anything I've done before. They are slow, precise movements, and you really focus on pushing yourself to failure by the 10th-12th rep. I remember previewing the DVDs before starting and thinking this wouldn't be too hard. I WAS WRONG! I'm in decent shape, and exercised on a daily basis before this, but CLX kicked my butt big time. I was sweating and shaking by the end.I think I'm one of the few guys that is doing CLX though, and I really disliked P90X for various reasons. So YMMV.Noah

hi kathy!!! long time no see, i hope that you are doing OK!

i know that you will like CLX, and should acquire it.

it will provide the heavy weights that you are looking for.

there have been quite a few comments/reviews posted, search the

archives.

in a nutshell, these are solid, high quality, low rep, high

weight workouts.

3-4 phases, total of 3-4 months in rotation.

chalene is charming and motivating.

cardio and abs workouts are also provided.

yes the workouts are short, but chalene's warmups and cooldowns

are not sufficient, so be prepared to add-on, making the total

workout longer (say 50-60 mins instead of 30-40 mins).

this is during the first phase (burn) and possibly the 3rd phase

(lean).

in the second phase (push) the rep count is 6-8 reps only, and

therefore uses heavier weights than phases 1 and 3.

phase 4 (lean for life) is a combo of all 3 phases.

i agree.... i have the 3rd dvd, but it is not required... your

collection is large enough, kathy, that you can (and will

probably want to) substitute other workout dvds for all of the

cardio and abs workouts that are in CLX. and the variety that

approach provides is good, too.

Noah, I feel the same way! I'm more of a CLX girl myself. Granted I need to get

back into it, but it does fit in to your life alot easier. You can use other

workouts at the same time, it doesn't eat up your whole evening/morning and you

work more of your body at one time. With that said, I like the p90X cardio

better than the CLX cardio. I think the CLX cardio (I only have the basic set)

is just ok. I LOVE Kenpo X & Plyo X. I also like Ab Ripper better. Though I tent

to just do Power 90 Abs.

Do you have the CLX advanced DVD? I'm curious about it.

Hey Kathy,

I am doing the CLX. I love them. I have been working out and lifting weights

prior to this workout but this is a great workout. The only down fall is the

same warm up. However, the workouts are great and it's well worth the

investment! I like the way she teaches the movements. The movements used. And

her personality! It has given me great results so far and I highly recommend it.

Hi Kathy, sorry this is so late! I'm behind on reading/replying to posts. I have both the basic set and extra workouts. I LOVE CLX however, I had to stop doing the cardio w/o and ab w/o because they are either too hard for me or bother my knees. I'm very over-weight (about 100 lbs) and I have bad knees so I don't want to risk injuring them by doing both the strength w/o (some exercises bother my knees) and also the cardio w/o (the burpees bother my knees) so I've decided to just do the strength w/o and do a different cardio exercise dvd and/or walking/riding my bike. Have you started yet? When will you start? Carolyn is using them and so am I....I think Vennitta is too....although I'm not sure about that

now. JenFrom: Kathy Vetro <kvetro60@...>Subject: Chalene Extreme , FitFirmies , firmies4life , CatheFans Date: Saturday, May 9, 2009, 11:36 AM

I know I replied and said I loved it. To me, it was and is one of the best

investments I've made! I believe I will like p90x, too. ( Haven't tried it yet)

And they have Insanity coming available in June but you have to be in good shape

for that one.

On the other hand, I didn't care for Power 90 and Yoga Booty Ballet. They were

to basic and just not what I expected.

Just my thoughts.
