Yes, my son's last two fevers had lower temperatures.

We have been hoping that perhaps the fevers are becoming more manageable.

Our son Nikitas' last episode was low as well- it hovered between 99.9-101.1.

We weren't sure if it was or was not an episode. My husband thought maybe this

was a sign that it was slowly going to end. (you never know what to expect with

- just when you think you know the answer, the question changes). Our son

is 4.5 yrs old and honestly I don't think he is outgrowing this. He is

scheduled for a T & A on July 10th. We'll keep our fingers crossed!

Same with our Lily. Today she is at the end of her fever and it never

really went above 103, it stayed around the 101/102 range. Which for

her is very low (the usual is 106+). I wish it meant that the fevers

were going away, but I don't think so. Good luck with Nikita's T & A, I'm

sure he will do well and hopefully soon you'll all be done with these

fevers.

Kind regards,

April

Same thing here. My son had two very mild episodes in a row. We were

questioning if T & A was the right path hopeful that this condition would go away.

Sure enough 8 days before his T & A he had a very aggressive and awful episode,

that more than made up for the 2 easy rides we had. The fever was very

difficult to control and even when he went into surgery he still had ulcers on

his tonsils. I was very happy the surgeon would still operate. It really

stressed us out b/c he went into surgery somewhat sick already down 2lbs (which

is a lot on a child who is not even 30lbs). We had the surgery on May 24th and

since then he has gained 4lbs!

We went through a brief period of lower fevers.

Our doctors guidance was to not give the Prednisone if it was only 101

or 102, because that meant the fevers may spread out a bit and we

wouldn't encounter the behavior issues. I didn't really like giving her

steroids every 11 days, so we only gave it when it was a clear HIGH

fever.

Dani's fevers generally hit 106, and once went to " HI " on the digital

thermometer (which means it was above 107.5, we guess about 108).

Due to the aggressive behavior that Dani encountered after Prednisone

was given, we opted to only give it when the fever was clearly 102-103

and on the upswing. We also reduced the amount of prednisone and got

the fevers to go back to a 35 day interval after a few months (at one

point it was 11 days).

Hi I am a new member and we believe my daughter has Thye are

in the process of ruling out FMF and HIB. Her doctor wants to put

her on Predisone and I have had some concerns about it. I am glad

that you posted this thread I will keep an eye on how the medication

effects her. Knowing that changing the amount can help with the

behavior that sometimes occurs with taking the medication gives me

some piece of mind. I was really worried about it since we have a

newborn in the house. I also was told that it could cause her

episodes to become more frequent. I think that it is great that this

group exhists to learn from each others expiriences. I just wanted

to let you know that your post has helped me. Just out of curiosity

how soon after administering the medication does the fever subside?

Thank you

Thank you Ginger, HIDs is what I meant. I am so glad to have found

this group. There really is a great deal of good information here. I

am slowly reading all the material in the files section.
