Hi everybody,

Here is the letter I wrote to my church group on Sun., thought you might like it since we are on the subject now of church.

Carolyn

Subject: Praise report

Hi all,

Just a little praise report from here. This morning I went and picked my three grandkids up for church, have been determined lately that I am going to start taking them every Sun. whether their mom wants to go or not. And his was a good day to start since we were having a 4th of July barbecue afterwards.

When they got in the car they looked kind of moody and said they were wondering if it would be boring, were really worried they were not going to like it. I had told Sierra, age 10, earlier on the phone when I first asked them to get ready so I could come and get them, that church was not Disneyland, it was not there to entertain us.

So as we were driving down I asked them if they knew why we went to church, and Sierra said to learn about God, and I said yes this was true, but the main reason we needed to go to church was to obey one of God's commandments. Jesus said to go and gather ourselves together, so we must obey Him. And as I was going up over the overpass I told them that when we did not obey God's commandments, it was called sin.

I also told them that if they got into the routine of obeying God's commands, on a regular basis, then He would bless them, meaning He would bring good things into their lives of many kinds, and through many sources.

So we went in and they were in worship, and it was very nice, I can imagine quite spectacular to a 10 year old girl, and boys age 7 and 2, will be 3 this month. They had several baptisms this morning and they were very attentive, I plan to talk to them about baptism, and why they need it.

I had told them in advance that I wanted to take them to children's church, but Sierra told me she did not want to go. So I said I would stay with them to check it out, as I know they do not like to be left alone in strange places.

Well the whole subject was about enthusiasm, having enthusiasm for the things of God. They had a neat little video about Zachaes going up into the tree to see Jesus, he was very enthused. And liked that as he has just recently discovered that climbing trees is a good thing.

The video told the story of Zachaes and Jesus first, and then had a quiz show where these silly people had to answer specific questions. And when a child got an answer right the teacher would bring over a jar of candy. Well right at the end she asked what was the main object of the lesson. It was enthusiasm for the things of God, so I whispered it into 's ear and he raised his hand and was called on, and he said enthusiasm, and he got the candy.

And then I whispered in his ear that I got a cut.

Well then the teacher asked how many children would like prayer that they would get more enthusiastic about the things of God, and my grandchildren, and many others raised their hands, and she prayed. Do you see how it fit right into where they were asking me if it would be boring or not? Neat huh.

So then they got to go out and play on the playground until adult church was out, and that was lots of fun. And Sierra said she liked it, yes she would like to go again. Haray! And too she said that she could do as good as the little girl who was leading singing. She was just in a talent show last week, sang a Gospel song, and plans to sing one at the county fair now. She has a gift to get up there. I told her she should practice and I am sure they would let her sing songs there in the children's church, and if she gets good enough probably in the adult church too sometimes.

They were just so good, these kids. Well then we went to the barbecue, were first in line, and that was fun. LOTS of food, filled two plates with deserts of all kinds and I didn't yell at him. His mom would have yelled at him. When we take her to church it is more stressful as she is rather tense, but with me we feel much more comfortable.

So then we took the treats we could not eat to the car, and I had told them I would go to Wall Mart and buy them the Tomagotchi V4s they have been begging for for weeks now, so off we went. Only we could not find them. Called Toys R Us, and they were out, called Target and they were out.

So then I took them home and started to cry, he said, "It was no use being GOOD!" It was so funny it made me laugh. I told him that God would bless him, don't worry, sometimes it just took patience.

Well then I went home and had not sat down for more than half an hour and Sierra called, her little friend next door had just gotten a Tomagotchi from Wall Mart, we checked on area for electronic games, it was not there, so we assumed they were sold out. But no, they were in another section.

So I went back and got them and took them back to Wall Mart, bought them each what I had promised, $14 each. Also Lucas a set of bran yard animals and magnetic numbers for the fridge, just 88 cents each.

They were ssoooooooo happy in that van going back home, they had been blessed for obeying God! And their faith was tested too.

And I am being blessed myself for launching out now to taking these kids to church on a regular basis now. When we were loading them up, and I was buckling Lucas into her car seat Tara standing there and she looked really sad, said she would have gone if I had called her sooner. And when the kids were talking about being bored and all, I told them to ask their mom about that, she had gone with me since she was 2 years old.

The Bible says that a little child shall lead them, humble yourself as a little child and come unto Him, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.

I just feel so good obeying Jesus today!

Much love to you all,

Carolyn
