Hello again all, my name is , and my son (yes I noticed

there is a lot of 's in this group) has been fevering since 2

years of age.

One comment I got was that the syndrome's CAN be linked to signifcant

trauma. Do any of you, or can any of you link your childs condition

to a trauma? Our son broke his leg, then had the first HIGH fever.

We attributed to ear infection or bladder. But two months later,

they started, ROUTINELY! He has fevered every 28 days for 2 1/2

years.

Prednisone, stopped the fever immediately, but again, behavior

changes and the faster recurrance of the episode had us NOT using

that unless emergency warranted it. We tried Cimitidine last March,

and went 49 days w/o an episode, then slowly, they returned to 28/30

days. We upped the dosage, and the only difference we saw was the

shorter duration during an episode.

As for the mouth/throat sores, usually gets 1/2 each fever

episode, but not until the end of the episode. As with most cases

here, he does not eat, and is on motrin/tylenol every 2/3 hours to

MAINTAIN a low fever. But when the episode is over, and mouth sores

gone, he is HEATHLY HAPPY GO HUNGRY GO GETTER!

We have been seeing at first Infectious Disease dr, now an

Immuniologist at Stanford Childrens Hospital in CA. We have made the

decsicion to try the T & A. 's fevers do not seem to be 'weaking'

w/ age or spreading out as they say it CAN! So, even the smallest

% of success at this point is worth the try. Kindergarten starts in

August, and would love to have 100 day free of episodes.

Our second son, does not fever and by all indications is perfectly n

ormal.

Sorry so long, but I am just so happy to have finally found other

MOMS!
