Very good point, Cheryl - I'd like some clarity on this, as O's have such digestive troubles!

Hi , You said: the only one in the world with a patent pending because it guarantees the live flora actually reaches the small and large intestine. Most other products don't have much live flora by the time you take it out of the bottle, and if they do, it gets killed in stomach acid.* * * * * * * Doesn't Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) do the same thing as the Optiflora and as well? I am assuming the Grapefruit Seed Extract or Optiflora help the friendly bacteria in the intestines. If I am correct in that assumption, how do these products compare to the Blood Type Pro-biotics from Dr. Dadamo? Are there better products out there that do a better job of "reaching the intestines alive"?

Just received this from Kirkman's about acidophilus and lactose.

RE: acidophilus

Acidophillus does not need Lactose to survive. The organisms can be grown

and freeze dried to survive very well without lactose. The media our

products are cultured on is inulin from the chickory root.

I'v been reading all these messages about A. I was wandering how

it may come together with wheat, but considering I only can get

Kelp in Hungary either with wheat or dextrose or some other

hidious thing, now I can better imagine.

I used A when I combatted Candida and together with the diet it

proved effective. Neither had I any infectious diseases during that

period (and after).

I found a pure source, which did not contain anything else but 2

billion viable Lactobacilli Acidophilus per capsule, and it was

distributed by California Fitness in Hungary.

I think we need to maybe get some info about acidophilous from the people

who produce it. We seem to be guessing to much. It is made up of billions

of organisms. What base they are put in or what they feed on is obviously

what is in question.

Peanut butter is an " oily " food. For some

people, too much oily food is enough to

cause softer stools or diarrhea.

Also, to about peanut allergy:

I can't recall what is in the the comprehensive

allergy panel that Dr. Goldberg does in the intial

visit, but I can't imagine that peanut isn't

included. Can you look back at your copy of the

lab, and see if he was allergic to peanut?

Peanuts and soy are both allergens for - Peanuts showed up on the

first Meridian Valley Labs allergy test, and when we substituted

soy/cashew/tahini etc for peanuts then these proved to be allergens too and

showed elevated results on the allergy tests a year later, while milk and

wheat had reduced significantly (we also went completely GF/CF) - got to

watch what you substutute carefully!

Hi ,

We regularly give ph acidophilus and especially when he's had

antibiotics. It's supposed to put back all the good bacteria which has been

destroyed along with the bugs. We have also been able to get Folic Acid on

prescription for him, although the majority of his vitamins have to come

from a health food shop. We're on the Isle of Man which normally follows

the UK's rules and our doctor seems quite amenable if we can provide proof

that it helps.

I started taking it about a week ago, 2 chewables a day (It can be bought it

many doses, I bought the higher dose). I bought it because I notice I tend to

feel bloated after meals, and Ive heard this can help. so far I notice no

difference w/ that (I actually think I may have a wheat allergy, which this

wouldnt help anyways). I also take it as a probiotic -- too soon to tell for

that.

well, I'm just worried it could be more than simple " Boating " (Im a

hypocondriac). Many diseases/illnesses are charactorized w/ bloating as a

symptom. I never used to get this. Now I seem to get it after meals and when I

first wake up in the morning. Been going on for about a year. Its not too

uncomfortable, but all the air sometimes makes rumbling noises which can be

quite loud and embarassing! I should just ask my Dr. but I hate Drs!

Bloating the way you describe can really be only one thing, just simple

constipation. When after eating if your bowels haven't completely

emptied from the last time you ate, the newly introduced food will give

you the feeling of being bloated & stuffed. So, yes probiotics may

assist by adding beneficial flora to your digestive system . But it

sounds to me, you need more fiber or a daily stool softener. Vegetable &

fruit fiber is far better then synthetic fiber. Oh ya, can't stress

this enough, the importance of water intake, people greatly under

estimate this. We just to busy to pay attention to this. Anyway, Dr.Cody

will shut up now! Later..

Your bloating symptoms suggest a condition called aerophagia, which is

air-trapping in the stomach. While this is not a serious condition, it can

cause discomfort. Some possible causes include gum chewing, consuming

carbonated beverages, and anxiety. Some note relief simply by avoiding

chewing gum, carbonated beverages, or, possibly trying a mild anti-anxiety

medication. Attempting to eat more slowly can also help. A less likely

cause of your bloating symptoms could be gallbladder disease, which usually

is evaluated with a simple ultrasound test.

I don't think the acidophilus will be effective. This is quite effective

for preventing recurrent yeast infections, though.

(Remember, you don't have to hate or love doctors, just use them! Having

symptoms for a year is long enough.)

if you're taking acidophilus you should really take the LIVE acidophilus,

meaning the type that needs to be refrigerated. i don't know that the other

types do much.

How much folic acid per day is everyone using? I've heard it needs to be

beyond the recommended daily allowance.

The nice thing about Folic acid, like Vitamin C is that it's water

soluble. That means that the body uses what it can and the rest is peed

out. It would take HUGE amounts to cause any form of toxicity or do any

harm. I give Taleah about twice the RDA for her age and size.

My chiropractor told me not to take acidophilus while pregnant. He said that

the caprylic acid was OK in moderation though. I hope he has been correct...

I've been taking only that plus flax seed capsules (and my prenatal vitamins)

through most of my pregnancy.

I was supposedly due last week, so they're going to induce tomorrow. I'll let

you know if I end up with a caprylic mutant or something. lol

Hanida, I almost did the same thing! I was appreciative that the owner

gave me the low down on the refrigeration thing and how it's shipped!

Save yourself some money. Maybe you can start using kefir as a probiotic.

Do you tolerate milk products?

Mic,

I can tolerate milk products only if they are ultra pasteurized which is easy

to do myself, so I think I will look into finding the kit to make Kifer.

What do you mean by " everything " ? Have you removed common food

other yeast killers?
