Being Sick Alone

I have to say that I would give anything to have the problems that some of you have.....with sick family members, needy spouses, etc. I can only remember what it feels like to be needed in that way. I cared for my invalid mother for almost 20 years before she died. She and I were the last two people left in the family. I know how exhausting, upsetting, frustrating.....and rewarding.....caring for somebody can be. Illness is not fair. It would be wonderful if it did not control our lives. So often it does.

I hope I can furnish a comparison for you that will enable you to re-evaluate your situations. Now I am sick and completely alone.....housebound and mostly bedridden. For years I was misdiagnosed. Now I know that I have an old case of Lyme's Disease. It has progressed to the point that I am mostly non-functional All my family has died, along with my closest friends where I live. My acquaintances have long since stopped coming or calling. I go for days without human contact. It's hard to find a reason for living under those circumstances.

If somebody needs you, that's good. If somebody also loves you, that's even better. For your selfless love and help, I think you will have a special place in heaven.
