Guest guest
Hi all, I must admit- I continue to follow all of your posts, but have not posted myself as I am so afraid to jinx our luck:) Our son Aiden (3 1/2yo) has suffered terribly with since he was 1 year old. Fevers consistently from 104 - 107 with no relief for sometimes 10 dasy at a time. It was terrible. At one point we thought maybe he was having some sinus issues (persistant ear infections also). We had his adenoids taken out at 2yo and it was the longest stretch we had with no fevers (6months). But then they returned. Again we had cycles that lasted 6-10 days with a 2-3 weak break and then fevers again. We then started on prednisone which broke the cycle within 24 hours, but only to return a week later each time. After reading the article from Boston Children's hospital (thanks to this group!) and being a pediatric RN myself, I decided we needed to try something else. In September our ENT agreed to take his tonsels out after also reviewing the study and despite not having any tonsel involvement that we could tell, other than a red throat with episodes. For us, we decided the risks involved with constant high fevers and emotional stress on us all far outweighed the risks associated with the surgery. Aiden has been completely healthy and like a whole other kid since the surgery. He has grown tremendously, is back in preschool 3 mornings a week and sleeping through the night- yipee! I can't thank this group enough for their information and support!!!
