You should have protection under the FMLA law if you've worked for

your employer for more than 12 consecutive months. I would talk with

your HR office as soon as possible. You get up to 12 weeks of either

continuous or intermittant leave to take care of a sick dependent (or

yourself) for a chronic or one-time illness.
