Guest guest
I hope the surgery works for ph! I cannot imagine how it must be with him being older, and starting middle school is stressful for kids (I remember my transition was a little hard). Let us all know how the surgery goes and his progress. ~ Pruden
Guest guest
Best of luck to you. The good thing is, since he's older - you can rationalize with him to drink plenty during his recovery. My recommendation is to give him pain medicine before getting him to drink or eat much of anything - wait 30 minutes then have him eat or drink as much as he wants/can for the next 2 hours, then taper off again. If Loritab is prescribed - be on the lookout for bad dreams, itching, sweating. My daughter had those reactions - but we didn't realize it was the Loritab until she was scared to take any medications (about 2-3 days in). There have been a few others with these issues, as well. Don't take Motrin or Ibuprofen for two weeks before or after the surgery. I'll pray that this gives you guys some relief. You've fought this at such a rough age. Take care. Guest guest
Good luck with your surger. My son Aiden is 3 1/2 and suffered with crazy fevers etc for a little over 2 years. He had his tonsels out in september (adenoids out the previous year) and has not had any episodes since. I wish you the same luck!!

Guest guest
I wanted to post a reply to this, I had my tonsils removed about 6 months ago, I am 25, I know the older you get the harder it is. Based on my experience since I can remember it, I would love to offer this advice, Drink water and wake up to take pain meds. DO not sleep through a pain med time, keeping ahead of the pain s crucial. For me about an 30 min to hr after taking meds was best time to try to eat and best time to drink. waiting to long caused the pain to creep back in making it harder to eat. But by day 3 I recommend trying to eat soft foods, mashed potatoes refried beans whatever he can get down, I found the bean burritos were great because they were soft and the tortilla kept the bean from sticking to my throat. The sooner he can get back to getting true substance in his belly the quicker he will recover, I learned this from many other people I talked to who had tonsils removed at an older age. But I am no doctor, I am just speaking on experience. MY heart goes out to him to have to suffer from the fevers, but also that the dear is going to be having the surgery, I must be honest I was scared when it came time for me to have it, and im an adult a mom at that. I will pray that everything goes well and that it makes the difference in his fevers. Good luck and let us know.
