Guest guest
Yes, my daughter's reflux was AWFUL as a baby. She was on zantac until she was 3 or 4. She has been on cimetidine for the past 1 and half years. She only had 3 episodes the first year. And, has been fever free for 7 months. I think some of the kids with ..there inflammation begins in the gut...and when their gut gets inflamed, it then goes to their throat, just my thought. We are just so happy... She is much better. She started fevering at age 2 and is now 9...it has been a rough couple of years. But, I think we are outgrowing it or her stomach is mcuh better and therefore, we no longer have episodes. We see the doctor, again, soon. Good Luck. Fern (mom to , diagnosed with at 3 and now 9)

Guest guest
Yes Emma also had pretty bad reflux. I seem to remember that lots of babies did, there was a question like this going round on this board about 18 months ago. It's hard to track though because generally only the people with reflux babies respond so it seems as though everybody who has had reflux as a baby. So I wouldn't read too much into it. Guest guest
To Inga's point --- I never really respond to acid reflux questions --- Dani did not have any at all. She almost never spit up, was not colicky at all, etc. Don't know that this helps - but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Guest guest
Yep, my son had bad acid reflex as an infant as well and was on prilosec. He was very colicky because of it. Interesting thought, I do wonder how many other kids suffered with that early on! Brown, mom to Gavin, 26 months, fevering since 9 months

Guest guest
Hi - I have two boys, ,6 and Zachary,4. They were both born with dairy and soy allergies, but outgrew them at age 1. I breastfed both of them for a year. Since was the firstborn, we had no idea why he was throwing up so much. After about 2 months, we figured out the dairy allergy and I modified my diet to exclude dairy and soy. This kept the throwing up down significantly, but he had and continues to battle serious acid reflux. He has never had a fever. With Zachary, we identified the allergy the day he was born and again I modified my diet to exclude dairy and soy immediately. Zachary has never had reflux, but he started fevering at age 2 and was diagnosed with last fall. Zachary did however, have an episode of respiratory distress with a bad cold at 6 mo. He was on and off a nebulizer every time he got a cold for the next 2 winters. I've always wondered if that had contributed to (think about all that saline and albuterol being forced over his tonsils), but then again, I've blamed mosquito repellent, lake water, wheat crackers, sunscreen, constipation and just about every thing else (including the sun!!) Guest guest
It's amazing to see this posted, as my daughter had reflux as an infant. Knowing that the children of others who have posted suffered with the reflux for years, I consider us lucky that she seemed to have outgrown it within her first year. She was on Zantac for the reflux. That said, our son who is almost 3 seemed to have the reflux worse and was on Prevacid...so far no fevering or signs of ... This could be an interesting correlation though. Who knows. daughter , now 5, fevering since 2, T & A scheduled for October 8th!

Guest guest
My son had terrible colic and acid reflux as a baby. He was on liquid Prevacid and Nutramigen Hypoallergenic formula. The Nutramigen formula worked wonders. Very expensive...but worth it! I do think there is a high occurance of Acid Reflux in children. Not all...but many seemed to have it as a newborn, according to this site. Amy- Mom to -age 3- T & A 5 weeks ago-doing great:)

Guest guest
-Thanks for all the responses on reflux. Interestingly both my children had severe reflux and were on prevacid but only my youngest Teagan gets fevers. Brayden has had one fever his entire life and that was with RSV whereas Teagan gets them every three weeks. Given this, I thought that the Prevacid may have decreased the fevers as she didn't cycle until we took her off of it. I don't necessarily think there is a link between the reflux so much as between the use of anti acids in preventing the fevers. I appreciate all the comments on this interesting aspect of >

Guest guest
i'm no doctor, but i have to tell you that you might be on to something here. there's something that's causing the inflammation in their bodies - what I just don't get is what can be causing the cyclic nature of this. why does it occur on an interval? it's like the body stores up something and then POW, it hits with the fever. i hope the NIH can figure out what this darn thing is. let's just all remind ourselves that no matter how stressed we get about our children and their health issues, there are parents out there dealing with stuff that's so much worse. this is not ideal by any stretch and stressful to no end, but let's all try to keep positive - we see Dr. Feder in CT and he always tells us, I've seen so many kids - they will outgrow this, there are no long term health impacts. Hang in there everyone. Regards, Nick Handrinos
