Guest guest
Hi Libby... Yes, of course it has crossed my mind - but I am not prepared to have further surgery at this stage. The band has actually not been a hassle, it has been very very good - very few problems at all... post op was ghastly, but that soon passed. The main problem is lack of weight loss which I know has a lot to do with the bands owner and not the band. Dr God has done some huge blood work in the last week or so in the hope of maybe finding something that is not quite right - unfortunately what is not quite right is my head. The band is working for me - I am not working for the band. Yes, I am eating only 1/4 of what I ate pre-banding. But... I do eat those " ch " things. Chocolate, Chardonnay & Cheese. Dreadfully nasty things, but ever so yummy. I certainly need to work harder at not having them in the quantities that I can and have been having them. Not so much cheese anymore, not so much chardy anymore - but the chocolate does get a bit of a workout. Yes... I should have lost at least 20 kilos by now with my new exercise regime and the very small amounts that I eat. Unfortunately, I have to give up the good things in life, I am slowly coming the realisation that I am going to be on a 'DIET' for the rest of my life if I want to be slimmer. There really is no point arguing with myself about it any more, that is it... end of story - no more treats for me. One good thing this week - I am actually finding that I am all of a sudden feeling well... really really well. I have given up smoking - lost about 10-12 kilos - had a lovely holiday to Scotland & Italy and feel that I am at last feeling quite well. I can now walk up a hill with huffing and puffing - I am a better person for now being a non-smoker... so all in all - life is fairly good. Had a bit of a hiccup this week when fluids would not go throught he band - but that was fixed and even though at the time I felt completely and utterly miserable, it was a quick and easy fix. Unfortunately - I am now positive that he has taken out 3ml instead of 0.3ml... I was out with my girlfriends at a champagne shopping night at school and we toddled off for a few more champers and some thai take out at my friends house... not good!!!! I was able to eat three prawns, 3 pieces of zucchini and 2 pieces of brocolli... smothered in very excellent satay sauce... too much food - especially when I had had a cruskit with pate before leaving home and also some macaroni & cheese for lunch - quite a bit - as well as 2 of those dreadfully delicious new fousse thingos... far far too much food in one day, and I am sure there was a bit of chocolate thrown in there as well as the champagne that I consumed - too much as I have a bit of a head issue this morning! Gosh... I certainly have rambled on - sorry if I have bored you to sods. Have a lovely weekend... I am off to basketball and the Ravenswood fair today with the pipe band... Paddy at cricket all day - so I will head up to Waitara to see him later in the afternoon. Guest guest
Libby - I did ramble... must have needed to. I think that I ramble in the hope of it getting into my thick skull. I know what I have to do - I know what I need to do - I just need to bloody do it!!!! I know with time and a little more effort from moi, I will slowly get there. This little bit of hardware inside me is going to work - I just need to help it along a bit. Guest guest
Libby it is very, very frustrating. To have had this band for 8 or so months... eat less, join Curves and try to do all the correct things other than having the bad food choices that I have, the frustration is beyond the realms of my imagination. I get so depressed when I read and hear what other banded people eat and drink. I have no fluid calories other than my wine - yes bad as it is, it is the only fluid calories other than my 1 cup of skim coffee a day. I used to have three cups of skim mocha pre banding - cut it down to two after banding - then down to skim capp... now its one miserable flat skim a day. I also used to drink coke and high caloried soft drinks everyday - zilch now. I have also not had a mouthful of ice cream for nearly 4 weeks now. I have given it all up. When people who have lost 20-30 kilo or more in a year tell me of their frustrations that they are not loosing fast enough or have stopped loosing, I get so depressed. Here I am sitting at a six kilo loss in 8 months if we go by the surgeons scales. I have 1/4 my food, cut out milk shakes and high caloried soft drinks - cut my wine intake in half... and have very little show for it. But... as I said, I do feel very well and I know I am looking better because one " kind " (maybe not so kind) person that I don't know so well came up to me the other day in the street and asked me rather loudly had I had liposuction and a face lift cause I was looking far too young for her liking!!!! Go figure. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled and very happy for those who loose quickly and do well with this band. I am so glad that it is working for most of us. But it does depress me that this was my last hope and I am not getting to the slim person inside of me as quickly as I had hoped. Sorry - my whinge for the day and now I am back on track. I am off to find something band friendly and low calorie to eat before I head off to the dreaded basketball. Have a lovely weekend... are you going on the 7 bridge walk tomorrow... To all of you who are going - have a lovely and happy day - and don't get blisters!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Mel No doubt you have been there, done that but I'll ask anyway. Have you had tests checking out your thyroid etc and the symptoms any medication you are on may cause i.e.weight gain? Classic example could be a brand of contraceptive pill. You never know what these medications can cause, I had a lovely outdoor lunch with a friend yesterday, we sat in the sun for about an hour and then moved into the shade. I am now severely sunburnt on the face and arms, around my eyes are very swollen and squinty and I am a person who normally goes as brown as a berry in summer. I saw my doctor this morning and it turns out one of the medications I am on causes increased sensitivity to sunlight which I wasn't aware of. I did read the info on the medication when I first started the medication but it was at the beginning of winter and I forgot about the sensitivity to sunlight. I'm about to lie down now and put some cool wet teabags on my eyes, the doctor said that would soothe and help the swelling around my eyes. Guest guest
Leanne... Yes... been tested, probed and gone over with a fine tooth comb... nothing. I am on no medications unless you call vino a medication, or the odd panadol. So, the mystery will continue. Sunburn remedy - you have to get sorbeline cream with aloe vera - it works a treat.
