Hi ,

I have 17 parrots now, think maybe around a dozen back then with

6 of them personal pets, 8 personal pet parrots now (I also sell cockatiels

& lovebirds). There’s no way in hell I would get rid of them. They

help me keep my sanity and I spent a lot of time with an Umbrella under my

shirt while I was resting and with others cuddling while on tx, and now. I also

raise homing pigeons and doves, have 5 indoor/outdoor cats, 1 very loveable

barn cat, three large dogs, and currently 13 llamas… I breed them too. When

I was hospitalized the second time with pneumonia the doc insisted on a

pigeon/parrot fever test, and it was negative, whew. Maybe you should volunteer

for that test?

BUT… I am not Esld. Did Mayo give you a

reason? I know that others with liver transplants have pets but I’m not

sure why birds might be singled out. Your Too I can understand to some degree...

you know what a cloud they can create, but of course the love they give far

outweighs the potential problems… for me. But again, I’m

not in your situation.

Please let me know what happens with all this, you can email me privately

if you want to.. Llinda@....

I certainly do understand how you must be feeling!

Ps… I wanna Macaw!

Did you care for your parrots when you were on

Tx? Did you interact

with them as well. I have 3 parrots a Macaw, Too and Congo Grey who I

have had for 20 years. They are my family too :( Mayo told me to get

rid of them. Yah right and I'll cut off my right hand as well :) So

we built them a very beautiful outside flight. My huband and family

are so supportive all I need do is ask for help and they are there.

My husband will be caring for the parrots while I am on Tx but geez I

really need to hold and cuddle them just a bit every day.

Please let me know what you did during Tx. I am ESLD, geno 3a with a

Very low viral load and I got a pneumonia vaccine. Hope it works!
