My mother had rheumatic fever. it would appear the strep definitely was passed

down to me, as a child I was plagued with strep throat and conjunctivitis.

Never saw an antibiotic, but they took out my tonsils. Strep throats stopped.

Still have autoimmunity though.

I think it works for some people. I posted a paper on here a while back about

it, (the tonsils are one of main reservoir's for strep, along with nose)

Abstract

Children with obsessive compulsive disorder or tic disorders that are associated

with streptococcal infections (Group A beta-hemolytic) in the oro-pharyngeal

region are given the diagnosis of pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric

disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS). Tonsillectomy has

been reported to resolve the neuro-psychiatric symptoms in these children. We

have a case of a 9-year-old boy who was seen in our clinic with multiple

recurrent streptococcal infections of the oro-pharyngeal cavity. He also

exhibited neuro-psychiatric symptoms including agitation, hyperactivity, and

tics. These symptoms followed his recurrent infections. Tonsillectomy was

performed and in one year follow-up the patient did not have any recurrent

streptococcal infections, and his neuro-psychiatric symptoms resolved

completely. Guidelines for medical and surgical management of recurrent strep

infections in the face of PANDAS are reviewed.

If you do decide to have this procedure, make sure you get in with the B12 after

anaesthetic (many deplete B12) and you look into the impact of anaesthetic on

asd.

something about the strep but he is not a happy boy at all and having huge

temper outbursts and lots of tears so he is also on nurofen now and even bigger

doses of aziythromycin and seems a bit better plus of course the 3 hours a day

of oxygen from a concentrator. Dr G would like us to get all the boys' tonsils

removed, has anyone else considered this?
