After dark he turns all of those on and then all the lights in our bedroom, his bedroom, the livingroom, the hall, and on and on. I use a power wheelchair because I have MS and I get dizzy driving around turning all these lights off. As soon as they're all off he starts turning them on again! The funny thing is is that if we turn on the outside lights because we're expecting company, as soon as we're not looking he turns the lights off. Of course he does a similar thing with clothes. All summer he wants to wear long pants, undershirts and a winter coat. All winter he wants to wear shorts. (I have to hide the shorts in the winter.) Sure makes life interesting! Beverly >> Oh gosh Beverly, I guess maybe I should get used to Seth's little games huh? LOL That's funny that Collin turns the lights on, and the ones you want on, he turns off. LOL I'm sure it's not funny to you. LOL Long pants in the summer? LOL Seth would wear NOTHING all year round. LOL You're right, the kids do make life interesting, don't they? You sound like a very interesting, strong person Beverly. Please post more often. We can learn a lot from you. Gail :-)

Scares me now that I read a child just died from that. Smaller tot fell asleep on the register and his body overheated. Seth won't cover up with a blanket though. The minute we try to put a blanket over him, he wakes up. Sometimes I think it's a wonder our kids survive.......maybe it's a wonder WE survive! LOL I think just knowing that other parents are doing the same things you are, and the kids still do this kind of stuff makes you feel like you're not doing a bad job and that the problems the kids have is just because they have it, and not because of bad parenting. Now, maybe when you have older kids you are more sure of what you're doing, but I know I question things from time to time and have to step back and see if it is really a problem, or just another thing to try to deal with. I'm finding as time goes by, the things to deal with list is growing! LOL Gail :-)

Good to hear from you. I think Rex and I havce accepted taht we will never control the lighting in our house. Guest guest
Joan, Colin has 3 lamps in his room. If we turn all of them off after he falls asleep he wakes up. We have to leave one on all night. We have tried several different meds over the years to get him to settle down and go to sleep, however nothing has ever worked. He usually won't fall asleep until 1 am. I know sleep problems are common with our ds/autism kids--just another reason why I like this group so well. One other area where I don't have to feel as if we're the only ones dealing with this type of problem. Beverly
Guest guest
Sam is our light kid. We just got him his own room! He still has the light on but Tim now has the light off. Which is grat since that room is right across from ours. After 20 years in the Navy you would think the light wouyld not bother him but Garry is the one who always complained. & Garry, parents of (11 ds), (10 ds), JJ (8 ds/autism/celiac), (7 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (5 ds). All adopted.

If we turn all of them off after he falls asleep he wakes up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ted won't tolerate any lamps. He has to have the overhead on all the time. At night I managed to have it off but he has a night light that is so bright to me that I have to keep his door shut. I have stopped turning it off and I have stopped switching it with another one as he always changes it back. Gail, mom to Ted 12 in a month!
