Hi Leah,

I had the same problem in february. The principal felt the same way with me,

what a reputation. I put zeb on the small van too. It was not without

problems. I wasn't aware at the time that these kids are released 15 min.

earlier than the typical kids and the bus is always late in the morning. I

hardly doubt that a big bus full of the typical kids late for school each

morning would fly but the retarded kids, what the ....A few of the kids were

teasing him a few weeks ago and Zeb got out of the seat and gave one of them

a shove. The bus driver was screaming at me, bad choice on her part. A reason

that she sat there today. The noise on the big bus made Zeb crazy but he just

loved riding it. Finally tonight he decided that the small van wasn't the

same and he would just let me drive him. I hope Ashton does better with the

van than Zeb did. Zeb is in the reg. classroom like Ashton and I felt it was

good that he ride the bus with the kids too but it isn't the end all. How is

Ashton today? Maybe the ears were adding to her agitation yesterday.

Leah and Charlyne,

Isn't there a bus aide who rides on the bus with the kids? There should

be and then it would be his/her job to ensure there were no problems.

Maddie is supposed to have an aide ride with her, but n (her cab driver)

never brings one. I don't make a stink about it because he is so good with

her and she is strapped tightly into her car seat and he's such a cautious

driver. Also, I have had SO many problems with that darn cab company and

the people they've sent to bring Maddie to school, that I don't want to rock

the boat. n loves Maddie and Mikey (the other little boy in Maddie's

class) and he takes good care of them. BUT he is supposed to get an aide

himself and pay her out of his pocket. That is why so many of the cab

drivers don't WANT to take these type jobs and then you get nasty people

driving your kids (once Maddie had a guy who crashed his car---luckily she

wasn't in it; he was going to pick her up, but it was another time I had to

call them screaming for someone new).

Donna

P.S. We have told n that he HAS to get one and I did talk to the cab

company last week about it too.

Hi Leah,

I just had my laugh for the day, thanks. I felt like telling her a few things

but why waste my breath with people like that. There are better ways to make

a point, like calling the bus co. to ask if she had made out an incident

report. She doesn't hesitate to make out a conduct report. I do know she can

write. The bus co. had no report and wanted to know every detail. She will

have to explain to her boss, better than me yelling, LOL. I think Ashton may

do fine on the small van and it will be a quiet enjoyable ride with a buddy.

I think it is terrific that child made the cheerleading team! Inclusion can

be the best when a school really embraces it. I know you will be in bed early

tonight,4 huh. I hope Ashton feels better.
