Guest guest
Yes, I had to wear a compression stocking on 1 foot following a car accident. The foot had an infection and needed support. I hated it, I hate socks in general. Besides soaking my foot, taking antibiotics, I also had to ice my leg and foot. Finally my foot/toes just felt squashed and I never wore the compression stocking anymore. To help with the foot healing/infection/bla/bla/bla, I also had to sit in bed and keep my foot/leg elavated higher than my hip for certain times during the day. When anything swells, I swear by ice packs. If you don't have them handy, frozen peas works fine too. I guess somehow ice takes swelling down. Guest guest
Gel ice packs work great for me, too. No more than 20 minutes, though. Guest guest
Are compression stockings or socks the same or similar to support stockings? A doctor suggested I wear support hose for swelling of the ankles and legs and to improve circulation. I invested in a pair, but never wore them because I didn't have enough strength in my hands to put them on! So I will never know if they would actually be of help. Guest guest
Hi from Houston. I just have been a lurker for the past couple months. But now I have a question I haven't seen anything lately posted about compression stockings. I had my THR Oct. 25th. Everything is going great, thanks to you all and my doctor! I am still getting around with a cane, but I can feel the muscles getting stronger. I started back to work last week, 7th week, I have a desk job and only doing 4 to 6 hours a day. I get a little tired and my leg feels swollen by lunch time. I don't have to wear my compression stockings anymore, but I think my leg feels better if I do, is it ok to keep wearing one on the operated leg? Do they make black ones? I look like I forgot what socks match. in Houston

Guest guest
Marge, Thank you for the great info. I am going to get me some! > ...compression stockings This is what my foot specialist taught me last week. I have venous weakness in my lower legs. I have never been able to stand the pressure hose, not even the ones that were measured for and built for my body. I cannot keep the long ones up, and the short ones cut into my leg something awful. Well, the right ones have been invented now. The brand name is VENOTRAIN. You can buy them from your podiatrist or I found them online at http://healthylegs.com/ > click on Bauerfiend. Guest guest
: you can put on a regular sock overtop of the TED stocking; or just buy some really good support hose. Also, be sure you are getting up and walking around a good deal during your 4-6 hours of work! That will help w/ the swelling.
