This vaccine has been around for a long time, and didn't do the type of damage it does now until the vaccine schedule was souped up. I believe the mercury kids get in the early vaccine disrupts the immune and gut systems so much that now, when the MMR comes along, it triggers the slide into autism. So it's not a moot point - it's the mercury that's giving the MMR the ability to destroy. > > While it is great to get the press. OK, autism as we know does have some genetic components...I actually won't disagree with that one bit. However, the " debilitating " autism that many kids are faced with, is more than just the genetics. I hear people state that giving kids chelation therapy is quack science, but many parents say it has worked...I hear others say they stopped vaccinating and giving supplements, etc...and that has worked, although again, all those without children with autism are the first to say it's quack science... With that said, the fact is that there is a genetic component...We can all most certainly agree that usually if your mom or dad have asthma, the kiddo will get it too...more than likely, their immune system will be similar to his parents. Now, for some it was the mercury in the vaccines that pushed them over the top and caused the autism they already had to be much more debilitating...ie. no speech, constant tantrums, etc...for some, it was the LIVE virus in that MMR vaccine which their system could NOT get rid of that is still living inside of them...Yet for others it is the allergy to gluten/casein that pushes them over the top. Just like some kids are only allergic to milk, some are allergic to 20 other things...Why is it so hard for someone to believe that the same happens to these children today diagnosed with autism? Their system is weak, and it is a matter of what happened first, how many shots they had, how much their body was able to get rid of (live virus), whether they were allergic to casein/gluten, etc...that has caused that cup to overfill... It never ceases to amaze me how people who do not have a child with autism can say these things work or don't work or what possibly caused this condition to go over the top... I gave him a lot of statistics and he seemed truly interested and alarmed. He interviewed the other mom after me but mentioned to me that she blamed the MMR for her son's decent into autism. I had already discussed thimerosal at length and explained to him that the MMR does not contain a preservative due to the fact that it contains live viruses. Unfortunately he did not make that point in the segment. Every time I've been interviewed the resulting story is always a bit of a surprise. :-) But I am pleased at the points we were able to make. But, the newspaper article is written as if the MMR alone were the culprit, and it points to merucry (which makes no sense because Mercury is not in the MMR). The fact is there is no data either way. Autism may be caused by Mercury exposure (as was the case with my son) Autism may be cause by MMR. Autism may be caused by the cumulative effect of all the shots together or a combination thereof (for instance Heb B may have tweaked the immune system in such a way that it doesn't know how to respond to the other shots). Again, I agree that the press is good - but it would be better if the press understood and represented the facts accurately. > > > > While it is great to get the press. How many times have you seen reference to mercury " being removed " from the MMR? The press is generally uneducated about these issues and they think they're doing good but being a PSA for vaccines (, Dan and a few others excluded).
