Guest guest
Hello- I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, , who was recently diagnosed with . She had her first high fever at 6 weeks and we were in the emergency room twice for high fevers (104-105) before she was 6 months old. The fevers continued pretty regularly, but each time we were told by our pediatrician that it was a virus or herpangina (mouth sores). When she was a year and a half, we expressed concern over the constant fevers and our pediatrician said with the next fever, we would do more testing. Of course, she didn't have another episode for a few months... After another 6-8 months of fevers once a month, we were finally referred to a rheumatologist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. After testing and ruling out cyclic neutropenia, we received the diagnosis and our doctor just gave us a prescription for cimetidine - 1 tsp twice daily. Unfortunately, our daughter refuses to take the medicine, even after it was flavored. When when we force it into her, she gags and spits it out. I'm in the very early stages of my research, but my question at this point is are there any parents who have suggestions on how they have gotten their young children to take cimetidine? Your more experienced guidance would be greatly appreciated! Dee Mom to , 2 1/2, fevering since 6 weeks
