weathering an awful storm

Hi All,

We're trying to weather the storm this time w/o prednisone since Ian's fevers

are coming back so much quicker (11 days this time). It's just awful. We're on

the fourth LONG day of Ian spiking to 104's and 105's and I'm wondering if this

duration is typical. He's had prednisone for the last 4 or 5 and we don't

remember the fevers before this being so horrendous and relentless. Last night

he was almost 105 for over an hour and didn't get back to 102 for another hour

after motrin. I know two moms had mentioned that the first fever after pred. is

really bad, so does this sound typical? We give Ian motrin every 6 hrs and the

poor child is in the bathtub off and on all day long and all night. Our ID doc

advised us to see our pediatrician to check for a UTI, but Ian's fever seems

typical except for the duration. By the way, my pediatrician is out of the

office today.

Please give me advice - anyone!

carol
