My daughter, who is almost 4, fevered for 9 months in 2006. Really

high fevers, aches, but tonsils didn't seem too bad until maybe the

last one. We had a bunch of labwork done including genetic testing,

everything normal. We actually found out about ourselves and

her doctor wound up agreeing after the tests, we also saw a pediatric

allergy/immunology/rheumatology doc at UCLA. But she then stopped

fevering for about 6 months. Her doctor said kids usually grow out of

it, and we were hopeful that's what happened.

In April/2007, she had a fever for one day,and really inflamed,

blistered tonsils for a week. Her doctor didn't think it was another

fever episode, although I had a feeling. like clockwork, she got

another fever this month 32 days later. Her tonsils are still very

swollen, although not blistered this time. We waited until her fever

hit almost 104, then tried Prednisone (1 dose 15 mg) for the first

time. It knocked it out right away, and she felt much better. But

after 3 days, her fever started coming back. and of course, her

pediatrician is out of town. We had been told to give her a dose each

day for up to three days, so we're going ahead and giving a dose today

and tomorrow. It did seem to help again, but I don't know if this

means it's coming back in another few days?

We're wondering if anyone knows a doctor here in LA who is very

familiar with ? and we'd like to talk to them about tonsilectomy,

in case she's one of the kids that cycle faster w/ the prednisone.

How many cycles do you give it before you stop? we're worried about

too much steroid..

it's so depressing to be back, we'd just relaxed. thanks in advance

for any suggestions.
