Guest guest
I've read where several of you have said that children with do not tend to get other illnesses... This all started May 1 for my son. The ENTIRE month of April was spent on antibiotics (3 different courses/types). It started out with a fever and an ear infection. The day after we finished the amoxicillan, he spiked another fever and he tested positive for Strep (and still had the ear infection), we returned to make sure we were all clear (because we were moving in 2 weeks) and the strep was clear, but he STILL had the ear infection. We returned April 27 to make sure it was gone (and it was). His first suspected fever was May 1. Aside from the 8 fevers he had, we all caught a stomach virus in June. The first person in the household that had any symptoms was him. His wasn't as accute as everyone elses, but his lasted 2 weeks. My husband, daughter, and I all had the major symptoms for 24 hours, another 24 hours of exhaustion, and it was gone. I can't say that he would have been exposed and immune to anything else, because nobody else in the house had any other illnesses this summer (aside from allergies).. He seemed to have a weakened immune system prior to the onset of (makes me wonder if it had anything to do with it..) (not to mention the altitude change, climate change, house change, etc..) He had his T & A done on Tuesday of this week. He is due another fever coming up in the next week or two (his weren't exactly cyclic, so we can't anticipate an exact date of return) so we have high hopes that he doesn't!! I will be interested to see how this winter goes. He and his sister are both prone to bronchitis, and we are in a much colder/drier climate this year. Sorry if I seem to be rambling.. Its been a long week. If this isn't the " answer " to the fevers, we will try Singulare next. He took that as an infant for his reactive airways (hoping to ward off all the instances of bronchitis he kept coming down with.)
