Guest guest
Hello everyone Just to add my 2 cents worth, I couldn't breasfeed Hans (PFS) as he had serious issues with digesting any milk. He had to have a predigested formula from the age of 1 month. His brother (older) was exactly the same and doesn't have a PFS....... Hans started fevering at 9 months. Hope you're having a good day. We are relaxing a bit more with all of this lately as school is out and life is definitely easier. Debbie, mum to Hans 12 ?? Guest guest
Neither of my sons were breastfed - 1 has and 1 does not. I did take him to an allergist who did not do any testing but based on blood work I brought in didn't feel it was a food allergy issue. Good luck. Jodi B. Guest guest
My son was breastfeed for the first 12 mths. His fevers did not begin until he was 3. No allergy testing has been done. Although we have tried prescription allergy meds that made no changes in his episodes.
Guest guest
I breast fed for a year, my son never had formula. I do not think there a connection b/c his fevers started while I was nursing. I even remember thinking that I was so grateful I was nursing b/c that was the only liquid he would accept while in the middle of an episode, otherwise he would have been dehydrated. I did everything " by the book " with my son and did not feed him anything, but fully whole foods free of any processing other than me cooking it (no jars of baby food even), I personally believe this condition is not environmental and there is nothing us parents could have done differently to prevent it. Guest guest
My son was breastfed until 12 months. He didn't start to get the cyclic fevers until he was 3. He was tested for allergies by a blood panel, respiratory and food. Results showed a wheat allergy. We pulled wheat from his diet and the fevers spread out to 2 months apart for 2 cycles. That may be a coincidence. We did however notice a big change in his behaviors when we pulled the wheat. He was back to his happy and sweet self. That has been a relief. With all the health food stores around like trader joes and henry's, the switch has been relatively easy. Easier than I first imagined. My husband and I have lost weight unintentionally too since most of our food now is not processed and made from scratch. I hope that helps in your search. Guest guest
My son was breast fed until 15 months. 5 months of that exclusive the rest was formula and breast milk. He did not fever until 3 years of age and he did have allergry testing done that showed he was not allergic to anything.
Guest guest
I don't think there is a connection either. My son is 3 1/2 started fevering at 8 months and is still nursing 2-3 times a day. He eats organic foods for 90% of his diet. (friends homes and such are the 10%) We are working with a GI specialist for constipation/blood on stool and such and hope to have allergy testing soon. --shelley
Guest guest
THis is really interesting, first I breast fed my daughter for 12 months, I also made my own baby food. My thoughts in this, It seems alot of us did this, I wonder if it has something to do with a lack of vitamin D, I heard this mentioned, if most of us live in a climate where the sun doesnt shine as often or our kids were inside most of the day, or what, I know formula has vitamin d, but I live in washington and we rarely get any sun and weather is so cold most of time we dont go outside for that long. My daughter has not had allergy testing but she does have allergies, seasonal kind, the allergy meds help her not have a constant runny nose itchy eyes etc. she also has exercise induced asthma and Dr. says she is just hypersensitive to enviroment. I dont know, I just think its interesting that a good number of us breastfed for the year. I dont get me wrong I think thats the best way to feed them, but maybe a vitamin D supplement makes a difference?

Guest guest
My Caitlin was breastfed for 24 and a half months. She started fevering at 33 months old. She has not had any extensive allergy testing done. She's very reactive to many things on her skin and digestively, I can only assume that she has allergies/intolerances. ---
Guest guest
She did have allergy testing done at 2 to check for allergies but they came back negative.... although I still suspect she has food intolerances as they are very comon in my family. My son is not " allergic " to milk but is extremly sensitive to it.. so I have kept her off it as well. I am thinking it might be wheat that is her problem Amy Mom to Janna 3 & Keegan 6 Fever free
Guest guest
Interesting...My 4.5 year old son, Spencer, has had since he was very young--possibly since he was born. I found out that I was Vitamin D deficient a few years after his birth. I was having some testing done since I had 2 miscarriages. As a result of the tests, I discovered that I have Celiac Disease which causes poor absorption of vitamins and minerals--esp. Vitamin D and Magnesium. After being Gluten free for 9 months, I became pregnant with my 2nd son who is currently 8 months old and is not showing any signs of so far. I have been taking Vitamin D for quite some time so I'm confident that my 8 month old is getting Vitamin D. Also, Spencer started taking Vitamin D about a month ago since my gut feel was that he's deficient. I wonder if our children are gluten allergic/sensitive. It's such a difficult condition to test accurately for--the testing methods are controversial. My case is pretty certain since I have the Celiac Disease genes. Guest guest
I breastfed for 14 months and she had terrible reflux at birth and had to take zantac. Once she stopped, taking meds she began to fever. 2 years ago and we put her on cimeditine and she is almost 1 year fever free. Makes sense to me...I think that her inflamation has always been gut related. Hope that info. helps. Good Luck. Guest guest
My daughter was breastfeed for 15 months, but fevers started around 26 months. She had allergy testing done around the same time she was diagnosed with (around 2 yrs old). She has a mild allergy to peanuts and stomach in tolerances to wheat, dairy & eggs. I have been told by her pediatrician & naturopath that there is most-likely no link between & food allergies, however since changing her diet, her fever cycles grew longer. Used to be every 3-4 weeks, now every 6-7 weeks. Overall, she is a " healthier " child since the diet switch. Mandy
