Guest guest
Alum Rock Park is still there. A lot of families still go there for picnics. When I was a kid we went there all the time. Guest guest
Yes, he does. He holds his back sometimes like an old man. The specialist says it like temporary arthritis. The joints are swollen when they are sick. That is one of the reasons that we took him out of PE at school. His attacks are so often and the pounding he gets everyday in PE just kills his body. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Guest guest
It all depends on how his life is going but it could be from one week to every other week. Sense last July 23 he was at dr. 104 he got his pred. on Aug 3 103.8 I just gave him the mortrin. Aug 10 103.4 I gave him the pred. Aug 17 102.8 I gave him the mortrin . and today Aug. 23 . We are off to dr. today. His normal temp is between 93 and 97 daily. If in-between we do something that is exciting to him like Disneyland or shopping at the mall his temp will rise into the hundreds ... so he has a few well days a month ... ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

Guest guest
When he is fevering does he get joint achiness? The little girl I take care of walks like she is 90 years old when she is fevering, poor kid. She also has trouble getting up from sitting on the floor. I can see why, when people are trying to figure out what is wrong when they don't know about , they think it might be related to arthritis. Before we had a diagnosis we thought she might have childhood arthritis. Does he get symptoms like that during his fever? sheenhicks@... wrote: >Yes, every fever. He is not doing well today. Guest guest
My little guy Dean, almost 3 years old, kind of passes out too. As I have said before, I have a good indication of when he's hitting that point, he gets glassy eyed, pale, and dark circles under the eyes. He's pretty fair to begin with, but man, he's milk bottle white when he starts a fever. He just falls asleep wherever he is. In the car, playing with toys on the floor, in the stroller (which is few and far between now), at the dinner table at the Outback Steakhouse one time. That was before I could read the warning signs of a fever coming on and it snuck up on me in the restaurant. I don't know how high the fever is though, I have pretty much given up on trying to take his temperature, when he's hot he's hot. And a rectal temp on a kid is quite unnerving for both of us. He is hot to the touch, and even in the dead of winter, when my feet are freezing, his are hot as can be and bright red. That's when the Motrin/Tylenol cocktails begin. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Joanne Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2007 1:13 PM Subject: Re: Cheri Payton FMF - Re: Pruden Char He has been fevering since birth? Guest guest
FYI - we use an Exergen Temporal Scanner. It cost us about $60-70, but seemed well worth it. It is the same that our Children's Hospital and Children's Urgent care uses. I've seen them since at Wal-Mart for closer to $30. It takes 5-10 seconds and you scan the forehead (following the instructions to be sure you scan the temporal artery, I believe it is called). We generally scan 2-3 times to make sure we do it right. We have noticed it can read a little higher than a rectal temperature, but my pediatrician indicated that the rectal temperature is more an average over the past hour (i.e., it takes a while for the blood to circulate there maybe ???), but the temporal scan indicates the most recent fluctuations. But as you said " hot is hot " . When we get a 104-106 there, we know that a rectal will be at least 103. Ginger M. Guest guest
I am kind of surprised that the pediatrician said that. Most of them use the ear thermometers. But at least you would have an idea of his temp. I have checked my ear thermometer by using it on myself when I had a fever and then taking it with a regular old thermometer and it is pretty accurate. Both were the same. But I do know what you mean. These kids each have their own signals when they are about to fever. They get a real definite pattern... You sound like you know his pattern really well... May I ask how old he was when he started fevering? Joanne Pellegrino, Amy (Phila) wrote: >True, I never really thought of it because my ped's office said they >were so much less accurate. Guest guest
Thanks for asking. No fevers at all with Jay. Dani has had some really bad fever episodes and two vomiting episodes (first two times she's vomited!), but no one else in the family has caught any of it --- thank goodness. Dani started high fevers (105) at 7 months --- so I'll be really happy if Jay makes it to a year without anything over a 101-102! We'll just have to wait and see and enjoy things now when everyone is healthy. I keep hoping we don't sway the statistics with siblings!
