Guest guest
Hi Corrie kids generally do not get a rash but I think the symptoms can really vary. Emma basically just gets the fever and vomiting, I have never found any ulcers in her mouth. HIDS is a genetic disorder that they can test for. HIDS kids do get a rash. They can test for it by taking a urine sample and testing the melavonate (sp?) in the urine. We also still need to rule out HIDS and will do the urine test next time. However Emma never gets a rash so it might be after all. But since one can't diagnose without ruling out all the genetic disorders we are still a bit in the dark! Hope this helps Inga, mom of Emma, 23 month, fevering since 1 year Rash and Hi all, I'm new to the group, so if this has already been addressed please excuse the duplication. I've tried to make my way through a lot of the archives, but 18,000+ is a lot of messages! My daughter has suspected to have . We haven't seen the rheumatologist yet but are waiting to hear back from our pediatrician about getting an appointment (she's on vacation right now). I read in someone's post that does not present with a rash, just the fevers/sores/ etc. Can someone clarify this for me? I ask because my daughter broke out in a rash at 2 different times during the last episode of fever, but after we saw the doctor. So, in the history that I gave the doctor, I didn't include rash because at the time she hadn't had one. The rash was small red dots on her legs only. Also, can someone enlighten me about HIDS? Does it pretty much look just like except that there is a gene that can be tested for? Thanks in advance, Corrie ___________________________________________________________ is the world's favourite email. Guest guest
From my research and findings it isn't typical for a patient to have the leg rash (but as someone mentioned--everyone is different). My son was being treated for FMF (Familial Mediterranean Fever) and one of the symptoms is rash on the lower leg and ankle.
