Guest guest
HI, My son just had his tonsillectomy on Tues. (4 days post-op now) and just spiked a fever. Seems to be a episode vs. infection as his glands are swollen- usually it's his glands and enlarged tonsils that give it away, but now he has no tonsils, so I have to go on the glands. There's no sign of infection on observation. Just put a call into the on-call resident at the hospital and waiting to hear back to see if I'm allowed to give him Orapred during this healing phase. We can only allowed to give him Tylenol vs. Motrin/Naprosyn, not only for fear of normal post-op bleeding, but also because he was recently diagnosed with Von Willebrand's Disease (a bleeding disorder where he can't stop bleedingg/ clot wekk on his own- kind of like Hemophilia, but not nearly as bad). Have any of your kids who had their tonsillectomies gotten fevers right after surgery? Is that normal? Did the surgery " disturb " things where it set him off? Any help would be great. Not too happy about this. Thanks, Kathy -Mom to ny- 5- Vienna, VA
