Zak is not himself with the pred either. It dropps the fever, but his other

symptoms are still present for at least one more day.

Has anyone had any issues with prednisone making their child nuts? When

Dean (almost 3) took prednisone, he was bouncing off the walls almost

immediately. I have been hesitant to give it to him again (he was given

the prednisone more for croup than for the fever that accompanied it).

The Tylenol/Motrin (cocktail) and cool baths seem to be controlling the

fevers enough that I feel reluctant to throw corticosteroids at the kid.

Amy, mother of Dean (age 2).

I've noticed lots on the board talk about their children not eating

before an episode, and then below about Prednisone making their child

hungry.

We have the opposite. Dani eats ravenously right before an episde, and

then doesn't eat for 2-3 days during the episode (even after

Prednisone). I've always assumed that her body kind of knows it needs

to store up some energy and then she doesn't eat because her throat is

so sore.

Also - Dani is in the 90's % for weight and 80's% for height for her

age, which seems a bit different than a lot I've seen on the board.

She's about 32.5-33 lbs and just turned two on 7/20.

Daughter - le, Just Turned 2 years old (fevering since 7 months,

diagnosed at 15 months)

Son - Jay, 3 months old

I have no problem with Dean eating, ever. He is almost 3, in the 90%

for height, 60% for weight, and he's 37 inches tall and weighs almost 37

lbs. The prednisone he has taken does make him eat more, and he should

have been a girl, because the cravings he gets when he has taken the

prednisone has been potato chips and Hershey kisses, together!

LOL! Maybe he's pregnant!

Well - we are blessed because what our daughter loves more than anything

is green peas from a can, but lately her new craving is Lima Beans. If

she turns down these, we know she's not feeling well.

I wasn't even that bad when I was pregnant! I certainly wouldn't argue

with peas and limas, after all, they at least have some nutritional

content! Dean will eat veggies, but if he is sick, or has a fever,

forget it, it's junk food all the way, and so long as he is eating, I am

not complaining!
