Guest guest
Hi Simon, I have seen this pattern descried a few times. Many things could be going on as I recall from earlier responses from chatters on this site. A few people have expressed that old symptoms may flare up for a while and then dissipate eventually. Many do exactly what you decided to do, which is to reduce their dosage, good choice. Some take Dr. Lawrence's advice (from the UK) and take a two day brake after every 10 days of LDN. His thought is that your body gets used to the LDN, and having a break of 2 days then makes the drug more effective again on your body. The last think would be to look at your stress levels, diet and what supplements you are taking. I strongly recommend taking DL-Phenylalanine twice a day on an empty stomach. This supposedly aids in carrying out the job of LDN throughout the day. My husband is on the SWANK diet which has also been a great help. My husband began on 4.5 and lowered his dosage to 3mg, because he was feeling tingling and numbness in new areas. The reduction in LDN stopped that (he still feels the tingling and numbness in the new areas, but no more new areas started). The diet and the DL-Phenylalanine helped tremendously with depression and overall well being. Guest guest
Thanks Aletha, for your answer and recommendations. I have had some mail-contact with Bob Lawrence and that's why I tried the intermittent therapy. The first time everything " worked good " , but the second, third, fourth time it didn't. Because of the stiffness (the first 3 months I hadn't !) I now take 3.0 mg (instead of 4.5). The last week I use zinc and chlorella. Before fishoil and mulivitamines. (I think) I have no stress at all. Every body reacts differently, so....Try and error ? I have mailed Bob Lawrence and wait for his advice. Kind regards, Simon >From: " Aletha Wittmann " <Aletha@...> >Reply-low dose naltrexone ><low dose naltrexone > >Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] recognizable ? >Date: Fri, 18 Mar 2005 05:57:25 -0800 > >Hi Simon, >I have seen this pattern descried a few times. Guest guest
I would know you were a guy just because we seem to be prone to slightly adverse effects on the 4.5mg dose but do hold our own at the 3.0mg dose. Yes I did revisit my old symptoms for a short while but very soon they left and if I don,t forget to take my pill at night they won't come back. Just hang in there at the 3.0mg dose and you will be fine. Reg. -- [low dose naltrexone] recognizable ? Hello ldn-users,My first 3 months ldn (4.5 mg.; I started August 2004) were remarkable: I had wonderful experiences. After that - the next four months - were less and less; in December I had a mini-flare-up, but the end of January I got some flare-ups and it looked like there were many symptoms togheter (I had them before, apart). Especially the last 2 weeks were bad (nystagmus and poor balance).Because of stiffness I now take 3.0 mg. instead of 4.5 mg.Is this pattern recognizable ? Hope to hear from you.Simon (from Amsterdam)

I have read this can make a huge difference in the way LDN is released into the body.

What is the filler being used? If you are getting it filled in capsule form and they are using Calcium Carbonate as a filler ask them to switch to Lactose, Acidophilus(Asid-off-a-lus) or Avicel(Ay-va-cell) as your filler. Lactose is best filler. Calcium Carbonate can mess up and your LDN not release properly. You may want to get liquid LDN with no filler. Guest guest
Hi (and others), I live in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and I got/get ldn from a pharmacist recommended by a " natural doctor " who give/gave me the recept (ofcourse not my own doctor, ofcourse not my neurologist me angry ? brrr...); a pharmacy in Holland. The first 4 months were great, miraculous. But the last 3 months I seem to have flare-ups all the time. I'll phone them next week and ask them if they have changed something etc. Maybe all these flare-ups will go away in a short time (I really am hopeful), but only time will tell. Thank you for reacting, Regards, Simon >From: " Bren " <TwisterAlley2@...> >Reply-low dose naltrexone >low dose naltrexone >Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: recognizable ? >Date: Sat, 19 Mar 2005 17:49:19 -0000 > > > > > > > > Hello ldn-users, > > > > My first 3 months ldn (4.5 mg.; I started August 2004) were > > remarkable: I had wonderful experiences. Guest guest
Simon, I've had pretty much the same pattern, though my " good " lasted for five months. I've had no flare-ups, but my balance remains where it was before I began LDN, and bladder problems remain as they were. I have now been on LDN for a year and one month...and I also have switched back and forth on the mgs...am now sticking pretty much to 3. At the moment, I have gone off LDN for three days, in the hopes that if I go back on it, maybe I will have some good results again. Maybe Dr. Lawrence is right in suggesting that you should go off of LDN one or two days a week. Pam
Guest guest
Hi Pam, I'll stop for some days/time with ldn, because my m.s. is getting worse (balance, nystagmus) every week (several months now). Ofcourse I hope for the good months I had in the beginning. I " ll surely start ldn (3 mg.) again. But on this moment I " ll stop. Maybe I " ll begin again in about 5 days.
