Guest guest
I wish you luck with the surgery. My daughter is 6 and we went through it 12 days ago. It was rough! But I will say, just when you think they are never going to eat again...they do! So don't panic. Trish Seneschel <shortygirl74@...> wrote: Hello, I just joined this group and wanted to let everyone know my story. So my son is 5 yrs old now he started having really high fevers when he was 2, I though that most of those fevers with no symptoms were from teething, wrong! It wasn't until last summer that he finally was diagnosed with and they had to do all the blood tests and make sure he didn't have anything else. It seemed like forever for them to believe that he had this. I was giving him the prednisone pills for like 6 months and still not going away on its own, which they said might happen. With a lot of hesitation from the doctors I finally got a referrel to the ear/nose/throat doctors to see if he could get his tonsils out, I heard there is a 50% chance his fevers can go away with getting them out, so hey why not? I know when he goes to school they won't let him be there with a fever. I finally got the dr. to schedule his tonsillectomy and he's also getting his adnoids taken out too, Friday, May 25th. So I'm raring to go buy also a little nervous about the surgery, because its my first child and have never had surgery myself. Our doctor is great and re- assuring me everything will go smoothly. So that is what is going on with my family right now. My son's fevers got up to 104.5. (pretty scary) when they get that high I start freaking out. It's very weird how they get this fever and no other symptoms come at all. I look forward to talking to most of you. Wish us luck next week. ~Seneschel ('s Mom) --------------------------------- Be a better Heartthrob. Get better relationship answers from someone who knows. Answers - Check it out. Guest guest
I'll try and remember that, my son is already a picky eater too. But we went shopping this weekend and got a lot of pudding and jello and popcicles and cup of noodles. Hopefully he will be able to live on that for a while. Thanks for the support. Guest guest
My daughter ee, just turned 3 is also having her tonsils and adenoids out on May 25th. I will be praying it will work for both our children. Her last episode was last week and her fevers soared to 106.7. It was very scary and painful for her. Our last hope is that the surgery will heal her or at least make the episodes less frequent or less severe. Good luck to your son, we will keep your family in our thoughts as we go through the same thing. May our children have a smooth, quick and painless surgery and recovery. mother of ee just 3 Ca
Guest guest
Wow, that is funny that they are having their surgery the same day. Good luck to you too, I'm hoping for good results too. We'll have to K.I.T. to see how they are both doing. Talk to you soon. Seneschel <alliandjason@...> wrote: My daughter ee, just turned 3 is also having her tonsils and adenoids out on May 25th. Guest guest
I got all that too and couldn't get it down her...she finally ate some Cambell's chicken noodle soup with the goldfish in it. They also had Dora one's. She thought the different shaped noodles were neat..maybe that will help with your son too. I think they have Spider Man. Guest guest
Make sure you give pain medicine on time. If you let it wear off it is very painful for them. My son had his out in Oct. 06 and is doing great. He has had no fevers since. He still complains every once in awhile of joint pain so we are seeing Dr. Punaro (Rheumatologist spelling) at Children's in Dallas tomorrow. I will let everyone know what she says about our visit. Guest guest
Seneschel, I am so glad to hear is recovering well. ee is having a hard time still. She had a difficult recovery right after the surgery and is improving daily but is still having a lot of pain. She is having stomach and gas pains along with the throat pain and she is up every few hours at night. We are hoping it will all be worth it in the end. Please keep in touch. Guest guest
Seneschel, I'm glad to hear that is recovering well, and I hope that this will cure his fevers. I just wanted to point out that if he still has fevers, he may be able to attend school even when fevering if he feels up to it. My son's preschool was very understanding about the fevers, and we just needed to bring a doctor's note explaining that he is not contagious when he has a fever episode. Of course, we keep him home if he doesn't want to go, but he just attended a field trip and his " graduation " while fevering, and we were so glad he could do both those things. But I hope that 's fevers are a thing of the past and that you never need to address this issue. has his ENT consult next week, so we may be heading down the tonsillectomy path too. He had two really bad fever episodes recently with a lot of tonsil involvement making breathing and swallowing difficult. But of course, since we had this ENT appointment made, his last episode was much milder and his tonsils didn't get bad this time. - On 5/19/07, Seneschel <shortygirl74@...> wrote: > > Hello, I just joined this group and wanted to let everyone know my > story. Guest guest
, thanks for that hope, I hope when he goes to school this year, that he will not have any more fevers...But if he does we will take it one step at a time. Even if they come back the tonsil removal was worth it, at first the doctor didn't think they were bad, but once out he agreed they needed to be taken out. Made me feel a lot better hearing that.. ~Seneschel, mom of , 5 yrs. old Klooster <andreaklooster@...> wrote: Seneschel, I'm glad to hear that is recovering well, and I hope that this will cure his fevers.
