Guest guest
Does anyone know a doctor in Los Angeles who is skilled in PFS? My pediatrician is knowledgeable about , but she wants to just run blood tests to rule out other illnesses, then wait it out if it looks like . I'd just like a second opinion - - especially about T & A. DD has always had oversized adenoids, snored and slept poorly. I consulted an ENT about removing them before I had ever noticed a pattern with the fevers. He said that " I don't perform unnecessary surgeries just for the parent's convenience. " I am beginning to think I had the right idea all along. If anyone knows a PFS specialist in my area, please post. Guest guest
Mirth, Our daughter who is 2 ½ has been seeing an infectious disease doctor in Long Beach. She works out of Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. Her name is Dr. Adler. She had only one patient with PFS before us and now she has a few (at least one more that I know of). She is very informed and also spends time researching these illnesses and seeking advice from other specialists who deal with these illnesses. The doctor also did many blood tests including 4 genetic tests. She was very thorough and didn’t just jump to a diagnosis. We have tried both Prednisone and Cimetidine as per her suggestions. Unfortunately they just didn’t work for us but were worth the try. The Prednisone brought them closer and Cimetidine did nothing to stop her fevers. We have now decided, with the doctors help, to do a T & A but are going to wait until the summer when my husband can be home to help with her recovery. We also are going to have the surgery from a great ENT, Dr Yoshpe who was open to our story and with a doctors note from the specialist is willing to do the surgery. She previously did an ear tube surgery from my daughter and is very skilled and kind. If you want any more information on the doctors or my daughter’s symptoms or story please feel free to email me. Guest guest
Mirth We live in Los Angeles, and we went to Cedars Sinai and saw an infectious disease specialist there. If you would like, I could give you the number. You can send me a direct email to azzief@.... I have seen 3 for my daughter so far, and they were the best of the three!
