i know this sounds mean but the doctors told me to hold his arms stright

above his head next to his ears and someone shoot the med in the back corrner of

his mouth they get mad but if you do it right they can' t spit it out . then

they know your not going to play games they know they have to take there med.

period . works only took about a few days for him to know how important it

is and that he felt better. chicks

Yes I agree sadly this is the only way we can get ANY medication into Emma. I

put her on my lap, her right arm around my back, hold her left arm with my left

arm and her head wedged in my armpit... I've had to learn to do this on my own

as my husband works a lot and is often not home... so she hates it but it's a

matter of 10 seconds and I think that's better than having a big issue on my

hands every time and drag it out... a few seconds after she swalloed it she's

fine and I give her a big hug afterwards.

Well forcing it down does seem kinda mean, but I guess it depends on

the age too of the child. Our son (5yrs) just started taking

Cimetidine about a couple of weeks ago and we find giving him

something frozen w/ it helps. It might numb his taste buds or

something but he takes it with a mouthful of ice cream or a frozen

push-up popsicle and water chaser

We experienced this for about 6 weeks, then from wonderful suggestions from this

group, we had it favored with bubble gum. The pharmacist also suggested adding

Equal to it. My son has taken it every morning and night since then. We also

use a reward system. He has a monthly calendar. When he takes it, he gets to

choose a sticker and put it on the day! It works really well for us! Good

luck!!! We are 14 days with no fever!!! Yea!!!!

I was shocked when our dr. prescribed a PILL form of cimetidine for my 3 1/2 yr

old. I thought - how in the world was I going to get him to take a pill? Well,

it's been soooooo easy. He takes 150 mg three times a day and since the pill

came in 300 mg tablets, I have to split them. I bought a pill splitter which is

the way to go instead of a knife or razor blade. Anyway, Joe takes the 1/2 pill

w/out a fuss, sometimes even w/out a drink, so it must not taste bad in pill

form. Just an idea for those w/ children 3 and up (and maybe younger??)

.....it's easier than you think!

The pill form is tasteless. My daughter doesn't even need water with it

anymore (but we make her drink!) try the pill at 5 your son should be fine

with it. The liquid is just gross, this is actually easy.
