Guest guest
Thanks for getting back so quickly Gretchen. I'm sorry to hear is still far from " right " at 14 years of age. Isn't the chronicity hard to deal with......... I find that, and not knowing what's going on really hard sometimes! Did they test for all of the genetic fever syndromes or just FMF? We had only the genetic test for FMF done and it also came back negative. The specialist did in fact offer us to try colchicine to see if it would make a difference. Hans had just put on a couple of kilos, which he has a lot of trouble doing and he also has a big problem with nausea already so we felt it wouldn't be a good thing for him at present, since apparently for some people it can be tough on the digestive system. He doesn't get the stomach pain with every cycle either. At present we are at home more than at school as he feels nauseous during the day and wakes at night to vomit or feels so nauseous he can't sleep and of course is exhausted in the morning. I've lost the cyclic pattern as he seems to be sick 3 or 4 days, then goes back to school for 2 and it all starts over again. We see the specialist again early April. Until then we just have to keep going and hope the school remains as co-operative as they've been up until now. Thanks so much for your input. Debbie, mother of Hans 12 ?
