Guest guest
My son, , had been fever free since starting on cimetidine in March. However, over the holidays he has had 2 fever episodes, 10 days apart. I am quite sure the excitement of the holidays brought these episodes about. Until starting on the cimetidine we had never had a birthday, vacation, planned day trip or Christmas without a fever. This one has been longer than usual (normally they last 3 days) and we are on our 5th day right now. He also has had a rougher time, more emotional as well as still last night hardly sleeping at all. Has anyone else experienced the severity getting worse as they moved closer together? Thanks, Robin

Guest guest
My daughter's episodes seem to be returning to a 4 week cycle from a 6 week cycle, but the severity has decreased. Her fevers used to reach exactly 104, and stay high no matter what I tried, now they peak at 102, but are completely controllable with Motrin. I just switched insurance policies, so we'll be trying to get a diagnosis this year. I need a physician's note to keep her in kindergarten with the fevers. Guest guest
Hi Robin, Yes! Ava's (2 1/2) cycle has changed to 1-2 weeks apart and the episodes have definitely gotten worse. We gave a steroid for all episodes in Nov and Dec (3 or 4) but did not give her the steroid this last time. It was a very bad and lengthy attack lasting about 5 days. I will be interested to see if the interval is longer this time since we did not use the steroid. I'm guessing it will be (maybe it's just wishful thinking). She has been fever free now for 2 days. I notice that when the episode ends that Ava seems almost super-healthy. She is so happy and energetic. I will keep you posted and you do the same. Guest guest
my son's episodes has defiantly gotten worse over time! he started out with fevers that would last 3-4 days with no other symptoms but his fever would get very high and he would have seizers. at that time they were about every 6-8 weeks. the doctor's kept telling us it was " fever viruses " . as of this fall they had gotten to every 4-6 weeks and would last 4-5 days. he had one episode that was really bad and lasted for eight days. his fever was 105 or higher as soon as the Motrin and Tylenol wore off. after many trips to the ER and different specialist they finally gave him prednisone and diagnosed him w/ . 2 weeks later he had another fever. now every 1-2 weeks he has a fever that gets very high very quickly and he complains of foot and leg pain to the point he won't walk. it makes me so sad because he is not himself during these times. emotionally he's doing ok when he's not fevering but he was to wear pull-ups again because he's unable to have control when he's sick and as soon as he's using the potty again, he gets another fever and it sets him back. now that i think of it he has been a little harder to handle during the fever for the last 6 weeks since the fevers have been so close together. it take him a couple of days to get back to his old self. then as soon as he's happy and energetic again, another fever comes. he usually sleep well. i hope i was a little help, i go through the same thing with my son. -3 1/2 Alayna-2 Ean- 6 months Changes over time Hi everybody, My 4 year old sons cycle has just changed to 1 1/2 weeks, we had stretched out to a month apart after being 2 1/2 weeks apart for a long time, and then right after Christmas it came 1 1/2 weeks apart, and we are just finishing another cycle that is 1 1/2 weeks after the previous one. Guest guest
's fevers also changed over time. Every fever episode since he started to fever changed with new symptoms, higher fevers, and from coming every 21 days down to every 10 days or less sometimes. The days in between fevers was bad too. He napped for 4 hours at a time, he complained of sore legs and really didn't do anything but rest. Everyday he had stomach aches and for 1 year he did't gain weight. For the past month he has been on Singulair, and so far it has been a God-Send. No fever for 1 month and he's feeling so much better! I'm not going to brag too much, I don't want to jinx it! I will keep everyone posted because this could be a miracle! Thank You Dena
Guest guest
Ellen, this was our story as well. I too agree that excitment brings on the fevers. We too have been fever free thanks to the cimetidine, for 5 months. We had two fevers each lasted 1 to 2 days but I don't even consider those, its such a blessing to have some relief after almost 9 years. Best wishes to you and everyone on this panel. Hopefully 2007 brings us all some relief. Azzie, mom to kianna 9 () Rustin 6 Bella 4 mo _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ellyn.trickey@...
