run program? Surely you can get Medicaid services not based on

income in San , can't you? At first, it WAS based on

household income, at least the services for were, but then MHMR

changed it to where ANY disabled kid with an MR dx can apply and not

be turned down because of income, it's based solely on the disability!

Does SSI work differently? Why are you having to pay them back? I

Reason behind all this is you had a good case worker , many parents

whom I've approached with special need children have also had to

repay , due to income too much . My husband was going through some

down sizing at his job back in 1995 and this was one of the reasons

why we had moved to San to be near family . So I had applied

when income was low , zooooom as hubby started to bring in a good

income , zap ! Pay back . I'm just paying $10.00 a month , reason

behind this was because once he reached 18 yrs. old ,it would all get

paid . So I ran into several family who also were in the same boat ,

so here is where I'am , now I'm listening to them . I have to present

a letter to the judge to get an approval , which I'm working on ,

which another parent with a DS child have shown me . Many doctors

had always questioned why weren't receiving assistants due to

having special needs . They must of known something . Many

caseworkers here are not to that good when it comes to requesting

services . Its like pulling teeth . Not to sound mean or talk awful

about across the border (Mexico) people, as many are my ancestors ,

but once they come into the USA , Bam ! They receive alot of services

and us people in the US have to fight for our services . Anyways ,

now I know , so this is getting taken care of .

is still getting alot of services from the MHMR . Still

receiving pull-ups , wipes, plastic gloves , anything pertaining to

the toilet training . He is wearing regular underwear now and is

doing great at school . Still facing accidents at home , so pull-ups

have cut down alot . Last year , they helped out with Speech

Therapy , since his behavior was bad last year , I wanted to wait on

it . Now, that is cooperating , I say he is ready for some

learning . I'll be contacting them to request for some software & the

boardmaker or whatever is needed for his Speech & reading . This

information was given to me recently of how much funds for the fiscal

year and the assistants needed . I was shocked to hear of all this ,

so now I'm just overwhelmed with all this news . Still learning , but

finally getting some answers . Yep !! Got to learn the hard way .

Ok , I'm rambling on and better go get dress for work . We had power

outage for about 5 hours the previous evening and I just got thrown
