Guest guest
Sonja, Thanks for YOUR inspiration, sharing the challenge has turned out to be better than the challenge itself. I agree that this has been the " golden " time itself, I can't remember a better time in my life, to tell you the truth. In regards to your question about a break.....I have read the literature and recognize that smart training includes taking a break between training periods. One part of the challenge that I never quite perfected was the " free " day-I occasionally incorporated something partialllyunauthorized, but nothing significant-so you can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be for me to take an entire week off. I thrive on exercise. If I didn't have that, I don't know what would structure my days. For me, I can say this: taking a week's break with no exercise would cause me more mental discomfort than the break is worth to me right now. Instead, I plan on taking a weight training break next week and doing some light weight, high rep supersetting instead. I just finished finals, and I'll be home in SC. What I DID do was have a self declared chocolate day on Sunday, the last free day of the 12 weeks. I had a HUGE (I'm not kidding when I say huge, I mean really big!) chocolate and peanut butter easter bunny. I mean, I haven't had anything like that in about 5 years. It was SO worth it. Also, did you all know that they now make crispy M and Ms? :-) I'm a little embarassed to admit that I had those, too! If you all knew my past habits, this would be a complete and utter shock to you! Part of what I gained from this challenge that was so valuable to me was learning how to enjoy forbidden food again. :-) Have a great day, everyone! I know I will, I just finished my Statistics (Sadistics?) final!!!!!!!!

Guest guest
Laurie: Feel free to ask all the questions you want to...however would you mind a tiny bit of advice...Try putting only one or two questions per post, it just makes it sooooo much easier to answer them that way. Here's my answers to the questions I think I know. > Is the weather there stifling during July/August? \ ****at that time of year the temp runs in the HIGH 90's to Low 100's any where up to around 110. (usually not higher) The running joke... " but it's a dry heat " Thank Goodness for airconditioning. > > How long is the drive from Bakersfield to Delano? ****About 30 min. to the Northern end of Bakersfield...then it depends on where you want to go IN Bakersfield. Layout is pretty simple. Freeways are real basic...just a straight shot between Bakersfield and Delano. Not confusing at all. > I'm going to drive you all nuts with questions over the next 7 > months! ****Too late others who have come before you have already driven us nuts! lol > So Marta...when is next year's pool party??? She likes to have the pool party the Sunday before a support meeting...in the past her preferred month was August. But Who knows it is still a long ways off. Am I invited? ****If you behave and treat Marta like the Goddess she is. > And my mom wants to know how big the murphy bed is in the hospital. *****Twin size > > And I want to know when are the Delano Support Groups? ****Always the Second Tuesday of the Month at 6:00 pm...there at the hospital Hugs Jo

I can have a special, extra one for you if you are here at the wrong time. I think you will be still in DRMC at my preferred time. > And I want to know when are the Delano Support Groups? So the August meeting will be August 10th and I will be ONE WEEK post- op. Yeah...the weekend before that definitely won't work for me. lol I'm ALWAYS the exception and my stay is usually longer than the NORM just from my reaction to the drugs. I'm allergic to narcotics. Morphine, Dilaudid, Vicodin, Darvocet, Percocet, Codeine...you name it. By the time I'm on it 24-48 hours I'm a itchy mess and the nausea is UNBEARABLE. It should be an interesting recovery. I'll take something for the plane ride, but I usually have to get off of it PRONTO after surgery. Sometimes I can do half a Vicodin with a tylenol chaser and that takes the edge off while I'm just sitting around. I can't wait to meet y'all!!
