You are wealth of information for sites to check out and warm caring about everyone and ther e ..current crisesI am glad to hear is making such strides! Is this a type of school he would attend, or do the therapists/professionals go to his school to treat him? > Donna is on a waiting list at this Autism Treatment Center for an evaluation for many services needed when funds have been offered for whatever area needed like the one I would like him tested for The Immune Dsyfunction . If not called, thats ok , because this Developmental doctor told me that he would love to see , as he has worked with many kids with Downs with ASD . Told me that many doctors here in San are just starting to hear about it . His mission is to find answers to help Special Need kids . The school district that attends will provide the austism services at school and at home . All this is new to them also and they're actually willing to learn with me and help me. Today , was not being a happy camper at school . I guess because his ears are bothering him . I've heard a little croup cough and a little running nose . I told them that he's having one of those sensory dysfunction . Because his hearing might be sensitive and would like to be left alone today . The school did not push him too much and yes, it worked . I know I have internet information and books , plus you all . But , I really think I should consider attending a Sensory workshop in Dec. . Pros : I know it'll be good resource in hearing more . Cons : school days , don't know if boys should miss school and spend some time with their Grandpa in Dallas , Tx. Plus, it would not be bad visiting my oldest son . Hmm. I was sent a flyer on this , if anyone interested to see if one is held near your state . Here is a website to check info www.SensoryResources.com . I was also sent information on Communication Intervention Workshop , learn how to help nonverbal children with severe disablities communicate their needs to care givers , teachers & parents. www.designtolearn.com There is so much to learn and it just feels so good to know that information are available . I'll stop yapping . Irma, 13,DS/ASD.

You're sweet for helping this little guy!! Donna

Thats what I read during the stressful times and especially when the person is bored . I have my fingers crossed that this will help , I understand the meds helps about 3 % people with this mental disorder . We shall see . Irma, 13,DS/ASD. Guest guest
> OMG Irma!!!!!! How scary!!! You know the thing that strikes me as so bizzarre is that everyone was HOPING this plane ONLY had mechanical problems!!!! Man!!! I'm glad your hubby is ok too!!! Duff's taking off as we speak, to come home!! > Donna > Duff coming home and mine is on vacation , but flying out today to visit his mom in Indiana . and I just arrived from a field trip to IMAX at the Rivercenter mall near the Alamo . A huge theatre that shows movies like the Alamo Battle , The Amazon , & etc. , like 3D and can be loud with a huge screen . did wonderful with his class and enter the theatre in a nice manner , sat quietly & watched , I was worried the sound would be too loud . But , nope it did not bothered him . Then after watching the movie The Amazon , not bad for it not being a Disney movie . It was time to eat , cooperated nicely pointing and trying to order his steak fingers , french fries & a drink . Then sat nicely at the table and ate quietly , then it was time for toilet routine , now this is the first using the restroom during one of the outings and he did it , as he told his teacher . She told him " finish " ? said " did it " . We're trying to teach him to say finish. Then we entered the Disney store and I was so proud of him for his accomplishments that I told him " buy toy " , he got happy . He selected The Monster Etc. hard cover book & Sullivan the big blue monster from the same movie . was also rewarded because he brought an Honor roll ribbon , for improved behavior , so I had to reward him , just like his brother Rick ,well in Rick's case for his straight " A's " . Then it was time to leave , I was just too happy . The class has been assigned a new teachers aide , there are eight students including , 4 in wheel chairs , and the rest runners . One teacher & 3 aides , anyways this new aide told me she was very impressed how quiet & cooperative was doing compared to the other classmates . I just thanked her ,because if she only knew him before . Sorry got carried away , its only because after the little set back for the past nights , he did not sleep . He did last night , though . Glad he got over what he went through , hopefully . Oh ! Some other parent from a different school was volunteering with her kid , who is in fifth grade and came up to 's teacher and had asked her , which school does she teach ? Because she just loved how well behaved the middle school students were , which is 's class. Sept. was rough but these 2 months have been great. Just wanted to share my story . Irma, 13,DS/ASD.
