My son has gone through 4 in two different sites. They both seemed like

checking into a hotel and I was given either a bed or sleeping chair so that

I could remain with him throughout the night. It took almost an hour to hook

him up to the 40 + wires. He had his bedtime snack and then went to sleep

while watching TV. Being that I needed to get home before the rest of the

kids woke up, I rose around 5:00 AM, watched him on the monitor and chatted

with the resp therapist, and then woke him up, disconnected him and came

home. He needed a shampoo before going to school since there was clay like

paste that they didn't remove which came off easily with soap and water. And

that was it. Basically uneventful.

Hello,

Noelle is going in for a sleep study in late December. I noticed someone on

the list has a child w/ Sleep Apnea. Any suggestions/comments about sleep

studies any of your kids have had? We are not sure what to expect.

Thanks,

I should say this but your on the topic. My uncle

went in somewhere for a sleep study clinic, I think.

They think that it helped him, and I think he went for

a few months. Other then that I have no suggestions

about it.

nathan has sleep apnea, and his sleep sutdies are NO

day at the park! He wears his head gear and stuff just

fine, took a few mothns for that to be routine bed

thing for him to do. Depending on how your child can

sit, they have to put many little electrodes on the

head and then on the chest, arm and inner thighs, and

one on each side of the face. nathan does awful for

putting them on it takes several of us to get them on,

and they use this smelly glue that takes forever to

get out, and then this air thing to dry the glue at

each spot, this is what freaks nathan out, like i said

he is just fine once they are done getting the

electrodes on, will watch some cartoons and look at

books until its time to go to bed. shawna.

natha has had them done several times and each time

they have to use fingernail polish remover chemical to

get the glue out of his hair, and then it still doesnt

really come out. Just takes time, washings, and trying

to brush it out. The short the hair hte easier it is. shawna.

Hi a,

I have no clue about sleep apnea but Zeb sits up in his sleep all night long.

What was some of 's problems? I mentioned this to the ped. and she kind

of dismissed my questions and I never did get any answers. Thankfully Zeb

does sleep but I don't very well. I am constantly laying him back down for

fear he is going to get hurt.

has always slept sitting up and was diagnosed with sleep apnea (mild

- moderate) several years ago. Unfortunately he has not responded to the

c-pap or a tongue appliance (his problem is base tongue) and he still will

fall asleep at a drop during the day.

yep, he use to sit up frequently while sleeping, often

leaning against his side rail, and ofcarse he'd wake

up several times too. now with his mask on, he just

moves all over, no more sitting up, we are trying for

some wieghted blankets to hlep him sleep still in bed,

the weighted anklets stopped the banging of his feet

completely. shawna.

Hi a,

Did breath heavy or snore? I am just not certain if that is Zeb's

problem with the ped dr. dismissing my concerns. He seems to sit up more the

older he gets.

Hi Caroline,

Zeb never fall asleep during the day unless we are in the car for awhile. He

goes to bed at the same time everynight and falls asleep in 5 minutes.

he is a loud breather and snorer, he had a T and A

done when a baby to help and it did for a good year,

at lest quieting the snoring down. We always knew he

was a sleep (cause he use to sleep with his eyes

open)because he would be breathing really loud and

then start snoring. His cpap has heated humidity with

it, and it moistens his mucus memebranes and he stops

snoring with a few moments of mask being on. shawna.
