Guest guest
I live in Kansas about 60 miles from Kansas city. I have definetely fell in love with this child within 2 weeks we totally bonded. The first week he was VERY aggressive and would hit me constantly but he hasnt even made a mad face in the last 2 weeks so i feel that is great progress. No the parents do not have access to the internt but i doubt if she would try to get help even if she did. The mother had alot of bad experiences when she was in school and quit school when she was in the 10th grade so she just hates the system. Plus she is also 6 months pregnant with a very high risk pregnacy so that just adds to the tension. She is a wonderful mother though and thinks the world of her child You can just see both of their eyes light up when they see each other. In 2 weeks i will have the down syndrome child in my home indefinetely she has been put in foster care and i have been told hat i have a 965 % of getting her even though i i am not a registered foster parent at this time but since we live in such a small area and their isnt many who wants a " handicapped child plus the fact that i have worked with her they are TRYING to push me thru VERY fast. Guest guest
WOW ! , You are just an amazing person with a great big heart . You have accomplish so much with this 6 yr. old child , even it has been 2 weeks . I hope the aggressive behavior will discontinue , but seems like you redirected him ,pretty well . It does sound like you're alone in gathering information . I really hope we could help you , if not we are good listeners . Did you get a chance to glance at the File & Bookmarks on this list ? Many here have shared some great information on the inclusion issue and the communication route . I did run into some websites : http://www.autism-society.org/resources/kansas.html http://www.autismasperger.org , http://ww2.nekesc.org/ksde/funding/fundchart.html http://vaporia.com/autism/autism.faq.full.html http://www.focusas.com/SpecialEducation.html http://circleofinclusion.org/index.html Hope something helps if you get a chance to glance at any of the resources . I'll cross my fingers, too . That the DS child will definitely be in good hands with you . Especially if you had worked with her and you do not mind having her . Prayers that all will fall in place . Keep us posted . Irma, 13,DS/ASD. > I live in Kansas about 60 miles from Kansas city. I have definetely fell in love with this child within 2 weeks we totally bonded.
