Several of the comments on the 20/20 board (a few made by the same

person) threw out some information about breast implants' link to

cognitive injuries.

There was a news report a few years ago about platinum in breast

implants being passed on to nursing infants. Is this what they were

talking about? I stayed away from silicone colic remedies because I

assumed they were talking about silicone itself. Would these colic

drops also have platinum and the other substance mentioned in these

posts?

I think that poster on the 20/20 board is making the incorrect

assumption that Evan's issues are related to breast implants, but

according to Wikipedia, had hers removed 5 years before she

had him.

There are children with illnesses connected to breast implants

present during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The biggest concerns

are platinum, silicone and fungal infections. The health concerns

are wide ranging, but I'm not aware of a connection to an increased

risk of autism (although one would think the additional toxins would

not help).

The infant drops you are referring to are probably Simethicone (mix

of silicones), they are used in many medications, supplements, and

vitamins; including the drops and other anti-gas remedies. It does

not have platinum or the other dangerous chemicals in breast

implants, but some people feel silicone in food is not safe even

though it's FDA approved.
