I'm sorry I suggested the stickers. I didn't realize that would be

criminal defacing. I take it back and I apologize.

Try using post-its. It would make the " defacing " easily reversible.

,

Encouraging hope and/or offering uplifting consolation even in the

face of the worst is an appropriate message to send. This is an effort

that challenges the best of poets. You may want to look in the

" Inspirational " section of the greeting cards. From what I remember

there are such sentiments expressed both in religious and secular themes.

I missed your post, too. I'm really sorry to read the news about

your mother. You're pretty amazing to be keeping your spirits up.

Bet you do that for her sake.

There has to be a really, really alternative greeting card outfit

out there. Or there should be. Larsen doesn't get specific

enough.

Oh, don't be sorry. I actually wrote a post about making stickers

simultaneous to yours. I feel so bad that you felt bad from what I

wrote! I didn't think my post about legality should stop anyone from

altering the message on the stinking things- just a suggestion to be

sneaky about it. Post-its are a great idea.

Oh, c'mon ya'll! Let's all walk on the wild side! Don't " stick " with

post-its, go all the way. Make it a full avery label! I remember being

16 in the mid '80's & having to get a police escort out of the county

courthouse for protesting against all the rednecks protesting against

a little boy with HIV coming to school. Having 500 rednecks from the

hollers of East TN chasing you out of the parking lot for standing up

for a kid is very liberating. I can only imagine what an address label

slapped on some pharma lit can do.

This may not be as exciting, but I wonder what some letters to the management of American Greetings and Walmart stores could do towards educating them that some of their hopefully valued customers do not appreciate their involvement in such blatant and obvious marketing (disguised as educational) schemes, where they are promoting products of dubious value and safety. A day at a Speaking of Women's Health "conference" sounds a bit similar to conferences some doctors attend at the invite of some PhRMA companies, except these "conferences" are directed at the consumer, not the medical profession. Check this link out as an example: http://www.wmfe.org/site/PageServer?pagename=sponsorship_swh . http://thinktv.org/community/swh/swhbsess.html Maybe even this: http://www.prwatch.org/node/6208 Aasanursedebi38 <nursedebi38@...> wrote: Oh, c'mon ya'll! Thank Heidi and everyone else.

I just found out last night that they did an MRI on the mass and it wasn't

getting smaller

with radiation and chemo- so I guess that means it's not working.

My mom spends most of her time laying in bed and smoking. Yes, I said smoking.

In a

weird way I've just pretty much given up on the whole thing. I try to help my

mom. I

bring over books- she doesn't want to read them. I ask if she wants a

nutritionist- she

says " no thanks " . We invite her places and she doesn't want to go. I just

can't fight for

her. It's one thing when it's yourself or your child- this is my MOM. It just

makes me cry

thinking about it. How could I come from someone who gives up so easily? lol.

It's must

be my dad's Italian blood in me.

I just have so much to do, between recovering my son, organizing the Long Island

Conference and trying to get myself in shape.... I have no energy left to get

upset over

cancer. It's like that parent you know who has a kid with autism and complains

that the

child doesn't sleep. You try to explain that pancakes, cheese, milk, soda and

candy is not

a good diet. They don't change a thing- but still complain. After a while you

don't even

want to talk to the parent- because it's so frustrating.

Oh, and my good friend from college has cancer too. So, my son and I are going

to visit

her in Georgia for a week and try to help out as much as we can. They have a 2

year old.

She's a fighter and I'm praying she will be ok. She's only 38 and such a good

person.

Every night I put my son to bed and thank god he is doing well. Yesterday he

wanted to

eat a bagel. In the past he would gag just looking at one. I think his diet is

going to bust

open and he is going to start eating more than 10 foods very soon. We already

added

bananas, carrots, celery and apples this past month.

This is a video we did yesterday. I have a few more coming. He's talking so

much- it's

unbelievable. I just have to be grateful for what is going right and not

stress over the

other things we can't control (like cancer and war).

Ok- time to put the rugrat to bed. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

: I am sorry to hear that your mom is still smoking,...that won't help her at all! At the same time, if your son turns up his nose at white flour bagels, don't worry: that's a good thing. Too much refined white flour is not so great for any of us. As much as you may want to introduce him to a wider variety of foods, don't feel bad if he snubs the white flour variety, he may actually be doing himself some good in the long run. Veggies, that's what we need to focus on. The greener and more colorful they are, the better. Like I wrote to you earlier, my husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer cerca 1994. He has had his stomach removed and is still thriving today, probably mostly thanks to his revamping of his eating habits. When my husband first moved to Canada, in the mid 1970's, the mainstays of his diet were fast foods such as KFC chicken and Mc's burgers and all of the

trimmings. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer when he was cerca 44 years old, which is a bit too young to be afflicted by that disease. However, after his surgery, he went way out of his way to change his usual diet. Hallelujah, he actually began to incorporate some vegetables into his and our diet. Previously, he had been pretty much a meat, potatoes, and rice kind of eater, which did not sit well with me at all. When I cook, I overdo it with the veggie bit. Over the last 20 years, we still have not worked this out to everyone's satisfaction, but we're still working on it! , all the best to you and your family!! It would be nice if your mom could find a way to live without smoking, but at the same time, you need to look after your child. But you can try to get to a place where you support the choices she

makes for herself, even if they aren't the choices you'd prefer.
