Guest guest
Yes, I saw the same thing at an American Greetings store right around the holidays and of course I was horrified. I asked the salesperson (a teenage male) why the store had this big huge ad for Gardasil, he had no idea. > > > Right beside the cash register, a local American Greetings store has big > tri-fold brochures with " YOUR DAUGHTER COULD BE ONE LESS " on the covers. > I asked if all the stores had them and the cashier said YES. Guest guest
I was at our local Walmart vision center and they had the same display. I pulled out my ink pen and wrote across the front of the display, " Investigate Before You Vaccinate " > > > Right beside the cash register, a local American Greetings store has big > tri-fold brochures with " YOUR DAUGHTER COULD BE ONE LESS " on the covers. > I asked if all the stores had them and the cashier said YES. Guest guest
I saw the same thing at Walmart. It was late so I just turned the display face down. Next time I'm in the mall I think I will go into the American Greetings store and look for the display. If I see it I'm going to go pick out a bunch of stuff and go to the register, look at the sign horrified and then tell them I can't shop there because of that ad and walk out. Guest guest
Not that this is very funny, but my mom has terminal cancer and I was looking for a card. they are all like: " hope you feel better " " get well soon " . What kind of card do I get? They don't have a " it sucks that you are dying " card. Maybe we can start a trend. While we are at it- let's make some autism cards: " sorry your child was dx " or " good luck with your upcoming CSE " . And on the bright side: " happy to hear your child is recovered " . always said that she thought the day Baxter lost the dx as his NEW birthday While we are at it, I could use a Mother's Day Card for my sister's girlfriend. -getting a little punchy on a Friday night > > > > " Excuse, me American Greetings store clerk? Guest guest
Let's set aside the levity about the stupid promotion of Gardasil in neighborhood stores for a moment. Don't you see it? There's something a bit sinister in the making here, with the marrying/partnership between Speaking of Women's Health and Gardasil/Merck and other pharmaceutical companies, plus other industry groups/interests. Please read my last post with the links. Today, I picked up a copy of "The Truth About the Drug Companies How They Deceive Us and What To Do About It", written by Marcia Angell, former editor in chief of The New England Journal of Medicine. After reading the first few pages, I headed to Chapter 8, which was entitled "Marketing Masquerading as Education". Most of that chapter dealt with pharma companies providing "education" for doctors, but there were some pages towards the end of that chapter, which mentioned pharma to patient education campaigns. The last few pages of that chapter kind of hit home with me tonight, when I was reading them after dinner, and helped clinch in my mind that this crazy advertising campaign by Merck/pseudo educational campaign by Speaking of Women's Health is nothing but a front to help market their dubious product, i.e., Gardasil (with others in the wings, since there are other pharmaceutical supporters of this "non-profit" organization plying their own products). It seems to me that Speaking of Women's Health is yet another mouthpiece for PhRMA. Let me know if I am wrong, but I doubt that I am. That group has too darned many sponsors with industry ties to be "impartial". Guest guest
It's all perspective. Like the " women's groups " who push for abortion, forced termination of multiples in a pregnancy, etc. Some women would call it pro-women, other's call it anti-women, just the same for pro-life, pro-family groups. Some would call a pharmaceutical-based women's group pro women because of contraceptive pharmaceuticals, pain relief, etc. Others call them anti-women because they push products that aren't safe. > > It seems to me that Speaking of Women's Health is yet another mouthpiece for PhRMA. Guest guest
Can't you hear it on the news? " And this just in. The card aisle of major grocery and drug store chains have reported vandalism across America regarding their Gardasil campaign. You know, the shot that stops all forms of cancer in women. These ads have been bombarded with mustaches, messages about vaccine safety, as if vaccines are ever harmful, and a tirade of other offensive messages. Pharmaceutical officials have linked these messages with an anti-vaccine militant group from the Internet. According to pharmaceutical and some governmental leaders, these are nasty, hate-filled people who are known for calling up representatives and cursing their office staff. Industry leaders plan on prosecuting, and those responsible could be sentenced a 50 year prison term for vandalism of pharmaceutical truths. Matt, back to you. 'Thanks Dr. .' Guest guest
This reminds me of an old disco song " I'm Every Woman " . Guest guest
OMG, defacing these ads won't get rid of them! It would be nice if that could work, but I doubt that it will. Once you have some of these stores involved with organizations trying to promote their wares, in an educational way, you're basically screwed. Let's revisit Chapter 8 in "The Truth About the Drug Companies". Debi <fightingautism@...> wrote: Can't you hear it on the news? "And this just in. Guest guest
If I see it and get a chance, I'll write on the sign " 1,637 adverse reactions to Gardasil, 3 deaths and counting " . I looked at our family doctor's website (yeah we need a new doc) and they were promoting Gardasil using the information which Merck itself got busted for illegally promoting: Merck by law cannot say the vax prevents cancer. > > > > > > Come armed w/a Sharpie. Guest guest
The number of adverse reactions reported after receiving HPV4 vaccine are up to 2207 (up until May 31,2007). If only cerca 10% of adverse reactions get reported to VAERS, there are likely many more out there. Guest guest
Then I'd better just pre-prepare a sticker with all that written on it. I won't have time to write all of it while the clerk's back is turned. Why can't I write faster? Aha- because I got mild (relatively) cases of Guillane-Barre three years in a row which would improve at the end of winter and start all over again the next flu season. The weak legs, numb face and clumsiness all resolved somewhat when I stopped getting shots but the numb hands didn't completely improve. > > > > > > > > Come armed w/a Sharpie. Guest guest
Is that criminal defacing? I was reading about how activists are getting majorly busted for noninjurious " destruction of property " and I'm wondering what the risk is. We live in ridiculous times. Important for calculating how much stealth is required, lol. > > > > The number of adverse reactions reported after receiving HPV4 vaccine > are up to 2207 (up until May 31,2007). >
