Guest guest
I have met a lady in my local library whose son has bowel problems so badly that he has just had to have part of his colon removed. She said he had a really severe reaction to the MMR and the doctor poo pood it every time she mentioned it. She is seeing specialists at Children hospital of philadelphia and has asked them about the vaccine connection ( promted by info by me) they tell her it is nothing , not relevant , cannot be and not so and will not enter dialog about it. They are treating the boy with B12 now as his gut is removed. She cannot deal with it and does not know where to turn, cannot get access to a computer often and the husband is not supportive. Wonder how many more mothers are going through this. It is criminal that the medical profession will not listen to the concerns of a parent. So arrogant. they are actually treating with B12 now , probably going to publish the results and get all the kudos for the idea! I am sending her info . If anyone knows any conferences? talks in Philly in the next few weeks please keep informed I want to help her. Ange
Guest guest
We are having a conference in NY in October, if that helps at all. There is a lot of biomed and it’s only $50 per day for parents who order online before October 1st. http://www.autismfair.com On 6/18/07 2:07 PM, " max walker " <max.walker@...> wrote: I have met a lady in my local library whose son has bowel problems so badly that he has just had to have part of his colon removed. Guest guest
What about going to the Autism One web site and having her order some of the Biomed presentations? I just got my full set today in the mail, but she could order one or two of the presentations. Drs Wakefield and Krigsman, Herbert, Mumper, those are the ones I'd start with...She could also purchase a download. Guest guest
A warning about CHOP, or at least a department of CHOP: we met with the head of the allergy dept. there in May of this year, and he is one of the biggest morons I have ever met (will provide the name upon request via personal email). I took one of my twins there to find out about allergies from suspected foods and environmental allergens. He walked in to our room and the first thing he said, and in a VERY condescending tone, was, " Why are you even here? " (I guess he had just looked over his medical form that I filled out in the waiting room - under the medical issues section, I ofcourse filled out that he had ben dx'd with Hg poisoning). He continued to verbally assault me with comments like, " Look, I don't subscribe to ANY of this... I am an ALLOPATHIC DOCTOR... If your son had food allergies, he would either vomit, have a obvious skin rash, have an anaphlalatic attack, or die. " I should have walked out right then and there, but I remained calm and gave it right back to him, telling him that he has behavioral changes when he eats certain foods, as well as the tell- tail sign of some sort of allergy from the dark circles under his eyes. He negated both theories, saying he had never heard of anything like that (!?!). I told him that I suspectd a gluten allergy, as I myself have been tested and found to be positive - a very strong postive allgery to gluten. He said " What the hell kind of doctor told you that? Just what kind of doctor are you seeing? " He added that, " If you had a gluten allgery you'd be in a lot of pain and bloated, " to which I snottedly replied, " Well 6 months ago before I went gluten-free I looked 6 months pregnant and was in extreme pain when I ate wheat. " Suddenly he became a little nicer, which brough on more bragging, and TMI about his personal life (his divorce, etc). I know, eye rolling. The whole visit, this doctor was extremely rude and pompous, touting himself as " the creater of the entire allergy dept at CHOP " and, " I used to do bench science but then I realized I could work less and get paid more with this job " (Was that at Merk, by chance? And maybe you could spend some of your free time reading up on allgeries...) He went on to prescribe 4 medications for my 8 yr old son, who after skin testing, was shown to be MILDLY allergic to grasses and trees. He refused to test for food allergies. And he also dx'd him with asthma due to a very VERY inaccurate assessment of his lungs. I was blown away with how quickly those rx's were written up and handed to me. I asked if they were safe to take all together, to which he replied, " Absolultely. No problem at all. " We walked out of there looking like my child was elligible for a full-time respirator and oxygen tank in tow... the kid has *never* even had so much as even short-of-breath after running around, I kid you not!!! Obviously, I threw the rx's in the trash. My son doesn't have asthma, he doesn't even exhibit one symptom. I can't believe this guy is allowed to be practicing medicine. Not only is his bedside manner abhorrent, but his knowledge about his own field was obsolete. Take care,

Guest guest
I totally agree CHOP is worthless stay away from them. The neurologist toldme that PDD was dreamed up by a bunch of psycologists in a sauna. My son was fine and keep him in 1/2 day preschool there was nothing else we should be doing. The develomental ped was so disorganized she had no testing prepared for my daughter and toldme I need to look into my new baby's eyes and don't park her in front of the TV. There sleep and eating clinics are a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > A warning about CHOP, or at least a department of CHOP: we met with > the head of the allergy dept. there in May of this year, and he is > one of the biggest morons I have ever met (will provide the name upon > request via personal email). Guest guest
With CHOP, it really depends upon the department in my opinion. While I take issue to the fact that they have the original pharma whore Dr PrOfiit on staff (who I had a run in with when my 15 yr old was only a few months old and I hated him before I even knew what a pharma whore he was), I can attest to the fact that at least two of the doctors that they have on staff there, one in GI and one in Neurosurgery, are wonderful doctors. My 15 yr old has been a patient of the doctor in neurosurgery since she was 3 months old for Hydrocephalus and my 11 month old who suffers from severe reflux has been a patient of the GI doctors since he was 3 weeks old. These 2 doctors have always treated my family with respect, have listened to us, and have respected my right to not vaccinate my children, never pushed and both have said more research needs to be done before we can totally rule out the possible connection. I know alot of parents who have had problems with the autism center and the allergy departments at CHOP for the obvious reasons but I have never really had a problem with Neurosurgery or GI. I even spoke to the GI about my son 's gut issues from the MMR and she was very receptive to the idea of inflammatory issues as a result of vaccination. Said she was going to try to research more into it. Just an FYI...
