HI Please stop by the Generation Rescue website if you have not already and get familar with many worthwhile studies that have been done. None were funded by Autism Speaks (AS). It is fairly safe to say that the vast majority of us here are pretty much opposed to Autism Speaks. I will go back and search the archives for the links but the most recent tax return showed a very very expensive location in downtown Manhattan ($200,000 per year for one small office), a private jet, executives who funnel grants back to themselves and have no background in science or autism, tens of thousands of dollars in PR firms, and I am just getting started. The salaries run into the hundreds of thousands per year per executive. Kirby recently interviewed who stated that she believed her son was harmed by vaccines. 's parents posted on the AS website

that their daughter did not speak for AS and that they basically disagreed. AS recently merged with NAAR. NAAR brought us the Something is Rotten in Denmark study which is used by pediatricians all over the country to say that mercury in vaccines is harmless. If you do not know about the study, I can find the links. But the methods were truly dispicable and any 5th grader could tell you that the study was so flawed as to be laughable. The entire point of the study was obviously to bury the correlation between mercury and neurological disorders. For example, they changed the definition of the population 2 different times during the course of the study. I only have a few minutes, let me know if you want details. Dr. Andy Shih ( I try to forget the last name) went on the Montel show last year and publically stated that he had no problem injecting

mercury into infants. He is on the board for AS. I could go on all night. But those are for starters. I for one beg you not to do that walk. If you have a child with an ASD diagnosis, IMO, your resources would be better spent elsewhere. Vera autisticchildsdad <udinkuknowme@...> wrote: Ok, I am new here. were talking and I told her I was doing a walk in Sept. When she found out that it was for Autism Speaks, she told me that they don't put much money towards research. Can someone please give me details on this. I don't want to help support something that isn't helping the kids. My daughter has autism, and I want to help with finding a cure for her and all these great kids. I am not sure who to deal with now, I never thougt about an organization stealing from our children.

I used to think NAAR was just incompetent.

Thanks for the information.

It is fairly safe to say that the vast majority of us here are pretty much opposed to Autism Speaks. Ultimately, NAAR is a friend to Big Pharma. It has always been, to put it

mildly, my LEAST

FAVORITE player in our community. I never supported NAAR... and only think less

of A.S.

for incorporating their people and diverting funds to their useless research.

Hopefully this will not start round two of an onslaught of posts, but I just want to state that as a former Trustee of NAAR I can unequivocally state that NAAR was not in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies. Although you state "friend" in your e-mail I suspect more is implied. Nevertheless I absolutely agree that incorporating the incompetent senior staff of NAAR into Autism Speaks was a dumb move and one I suspect they will regret for eternity.

Wow, this is all so crazy. Who do I really trust now? I thougth

they were doing a good thing, and I wanted to help. I have been to

the Generation Rescue website, and found a lot of great information.

My whole perspective on this stuff is complete chaos. I don't know

who to trust. Someone could come to me tomorrow and tell me that

what I am hearing from you is completely wrong. I have seen the tax

forms on Autism Speaks site, and how much they are spending, but they

are also getting the word out to the rest of the world about Autism.

I guess I am just going to have to do some more research, and see

where I end up at.

I think your perspective is sadly all too similar to many of us. Right now there is no one organization I have my full trust in. That of course is not to say they are all doing something wrong.

I think all that any of us can do is to gravitate to the organization(s) that we feel are most in line with our respective visions and get involved, speak up and keep looking forward.

I have long realized that there will never be one organization that will satisfy all of us but I must say that "Autism United" has the right vision.

I couldn't find Autism United on the web. I did a search, and

couldn't come up with anything. Can you give me the direct link?

Marty, I have almost 20 years of experience of working in the business world, but not in the non-profit sector. Can you provide any insight into why the s or the Autism Speaks people wouldn't be able to just get rid of the 'incompetent senior staff' from NAAR? I don't get it. In a 'normal' company, they'd find a way to get rid of incompetence, and if it's not based on discrimination of a protected class, and especially in an 'employment at will' state like Illinois, it would generally hold up in court. Do you think they have employment contracts resulting from the mergers that protect these incompetents? Thanks, Marie autisticchildsdad <udinkuknowme@...> wrote: > > > Ok, I am new here.
