Guest guest
Kathleen, All of the information, including the website, is being worked on as we speak. I don’t have anything I can give you now. I’m sure as soon as it’s available, it will be posted on EOH. In the past I’ve said things I shouldn’t have- so this time I’m just going to wait until it’s officially announced. Guest guest
I will get a hold of . I will do the web site if you don't have any one yet. christine wrote: Ginger, So you know, Autism United is already formed. We are working on a fundraising walk on Long Island for September 30th, 2007. So far, there are about 10 different groups, organizations, companies, agencies and schools who have come together for this event. Part of the money will go back into the community. Another part is for treatment-based research. Contact Gilmore if you want to help. More info on this will be posted when available. Guest guest
I, for one, was pretty bothered by CAN having a booth at the DAN conference last spring (06). I don't know if they were there this year, too, but it seems to me that they raise a lot of money for research and don't put it toward environmental research, but then they take advantage of a DAN conference to get their name out there and get support from the very parents who want the kind of research they aren't doing. Guest guest
I think they hit about every school in the country. Our school was hit up for donations for the second year in a row. The kids, 5th and 6th graders, were asked to bring in money if they wanted to donate to AS. A woman was there to 'educate' the kids on autism and my daughter said that the woman told them that autism is genetic. My daughter began to laugh outloud. Good girl! Guest guest
CAN went to the DAN! conference to sign up families for genetic studies and to do PR for Autism Speaks - not to talk about the purpose of the conference - TREATMENT NOW! Bernie Rimland banned CAN for many years from attending the DAN conference. He would BAN them today if he were alive. Bernie was not easily fooled. Bell head of CAN - took his son to DAN! doctors for his medical problems - he is much better. This is good news and common. He is now earning from AUTISM SPEAKS $240,000 and will not talk about his own son's treatment success. His background is a middle manager from the pharmaceutical industry. He could learn from It should be called CAN PETER SPEAK! By the way he is in change of parent relations - this means you (not advocacy) Autism Speaks will adjust their PR - they have the best PR firm in the world and pay them $25,000 a month to spin messages. Look for the spin in the next few months. The public will never know - what you know - or what you want. > > > > My family left CAN a couple of years ago after raising many thousands for > > their first 2 Chicago walks. Guest guest
Man, this is one busy list. I got knocked off line most of yesterday, and again this morning, due to the heavy winds blowing through the Windy City. Catching up with all the digests is a daunting task, especially when one has work to do as well. Anyway, I'm thrilled that Autism United is going to be announced next week. I heard Bob Krackow talk about it at A1 and the need to counter the pharmaceutical/medical industry propaganda of Autism Speaks. It can't come soon enough. The way I see it AS has defined too many of the words we use to describe our autism world. I especially fear they are writing the definition of the word "environmental" to exclude the most obvious, and detrimental, environmental assault, vaccines. A coalition of groups under the banner of Autism United is probably the only way we can fight them. We need to sit at the table and rewrite the definitions to include the scientific facts, and I don't mean the computer science. Harry HofherrSee what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Harry - I have said in the past, and I can't reiterate enough that no respectable person speaking of autism should ever use the word "environmental" with attaching the word "toxin" to it. Otherwise, it could mean that a child became autistic because of the way his mother arranged the furniture. Please, always be sure to clarify when you discuss this with anyone.Roxhhofher@... wrote: Man, this is one busy list.
