Wonder what they would do if we put this information on a flyer and passed it out at their fundraisers? Oh, but that would be sweet!

Autism Speaks - A Serious New Problem

I am a professional that has reviewed many non profit organization'sIRS Form 990s. Autism Speaks Form 990 raises serious red flags.Serious. This is all from the official filing for 2006.1. Three members of the Board of Directors received $2.5 million fortheir own organizations. 2. The President Mark Rothmeyer, just received a 5 year contract forabout $2,000,000 including bonuses with no prior background with autism.3. The grants are primarily going to those representing institutionsthat are reviewing the grants. There is no indication that theseconflicts are independently reviewed4. The location of this small and new foundation is in very expensivedowntown New York facilities rented for $200,000 by the institutionthat is run by the Chairman of Autism Speaks.5. A expense of a Private Jet plane for $57,000 was noted. This isvery unusual for a new non profit groups.6. The head of the

scientific review received the majority of thefunds for 2005 for his institution for a data base - almost $3 millionSince the funding is now from the public - and the advertising andpromotion tugs at the publics heart strings with images of families inneed - the funds collected MUST be about those it raises the money for.The following are all taken from the Form 990 filingWeb Site $830,000 Software for the computer $514,000 Lawyers $440,000 Computers $337,000 Public relations $285,000Office annual rent $200,000 HR consultant $110,000 Editorial Consultant

Part of the reason they are able to raise money from the public

through organizations like TOYS R US is that there is no protest.

Most other movements would not allow this.

Many have felt powerless against government so the feeling is that

this nonsense cannot be stopped.

A small group of determined parents....

SO... take this information and send it across the web - in 72 hours

it can reach 100,000.

The collective wisdom of determined parents cannot be stopped.

Things will change. Ask for something specific

Autism Speaks must provide answers - not from the PR people but face

to face with trusted parents representatives and Board members.

If they refuse to meet - and it must be the BOD not the hired guys -

then tell them we will hold a press conference and the press will ask

the questions

This is incredible. What hubris these people have to rip off the autism community, and the society at large, in such a manner.

I am sending this information out to everyone I know to make sure they know what a bunch of thieves Autism Speaks is.

$57,000 to fly a celebrity around? They should be flogged.

The only way they will be stopped is if the rest of the autism community bonds together and fights them. At the recent Autism One conference I heard a recurring theme, Unity.

The smaller groups need to work together for our common goal, to fight the Autism Speaks corporate mentality. AS and their assimilated drone CAN, have defined autism in the minds of too many in society. We must come together and redefine what has and is happening to children all over the world

My family left CAN a couple of years ago after raising many thousands for their first 2 Chicago walks. My wife and daughter worked on the 2nd Walk Now committee and were disgusted at the pettiness of some in the group. I refused to give them a penny until they acknowledged my son was damaged by the number of vaccines he got, and the toxic waste they put in those vaccines. I'm still waiting, but not holding my breath.

Autism

Speaks - A Serious New Problem

I am a professional that has reviewed many non profit

organization's

IRS Form 990s. Autism Speaks Form 990 raises serious red flags.

Serious. This is all from the official filing for 2006.

1. Three members of the Board of Directors received $2.5 million for

their own organizations.

2. The President Mark Rothmeyer, just received a 5 year contract for

about $2,000,000 including bonuses with no prior background with autism.

3. The grants are primarily going to those representing institutions

that are reviewing the grants. There is no indication that these

conflicts are independently reviewed

4. The location of this small and new foundation is in very expensive

downtown New York

facilities rented for $200,000 by the institution

that is run by the Chairman of Autism Speaks.

5. A expense of a Private Jet plane for $57,000 was noted. This is

very unusual for a new non profit groups.

6. The head of the scientific review received the majority of the

funds for 2005 for his institution for a data base - almost $3 million

Since the funding is now from the public - and the advertising and

promotion tugs at the publics heart strings with images of families in

need - the funds collected MUST be about those it raises the money for.

The following are all taken from the Form 990 filing

Web Site $830,000

Software for the computer $514,000

Lawyers $440,000

Computers $337,000

Public relations $285,000

Office annual rent $200,000

HR consultant $110,000

Editorial Consultant $76,000

Private Jet Plane for someone that entertained $57,000

Mark Rothmeyer* $360,000

Bell unknown

Alison Singer $168,000

Mr Ringall $150,000

Andy Shik $110,000

Remember all the above also gets significant fring benefits that

probably add.

Mark Rothmayer also can get $50,000 more with a bonus a year benefits –

What??? Why is " I thought about driving my kid off a bridge " getting

paid so much? Guess that autism thing is paying off, better keep the

kid around.

I hope someone takes down this corrupt organization, and get these

funds into the hands of people who need them. There are real families

right now struggling to make ends meet and meet the needs of their

children. Like the Kirton's with their 6 autistic children, their

tiny rental house and barely any help from the state. Just a tiny bit

of help, a drop in the bucket really for AS, would put them on solid

ground. But I guess private jet entertainment and overpriced

socialites are more important.

Let's stop wondering and just DO IT!! All of us collective unknowns

and many others like us are the families that the people who donate

generously to Autism Speaks think are getting help. Raise your hand

if Autism Speaks has offered you help in any form? Raise your hand

if Autism Speaks has solicited you for donations? (raising hand)

Screw 'em, let's start getting the word out. We need a copy of the

legal document that is available to the public and a good flyer

summing it up for the average citizen. If I had known this stuff

sooner, I would have passed out flyers at Autism One conference a

couple weekends ago. I'm tired of seeing parents with tears in

their eyes talk about going bankrups and taking out second mortgages

to pay for therapies and treatments for their kids, while these

jerks go suck up all the donation funds like ticks.

There are considerable obstacles to joining forces... and I'm not sure that

merging

organizations is the way to go... but a multi-organizational committee can be

formed that

would be goal-specific and a fund could be started for committee initiatives.

That way, smaller organizations can remain regional and do what they do best...

but

contribute to more national concerns without losing their identities.

And to think of how they trolled my son’s

very small, modest, non-profit school for donations……

We need centers set up around the country NOW

to medically treat our children.

Parents shouldn’t have to travel long distances to see a well-trained DAN!

doctor. And they shouldn’t have to pay for the medical treatment

out of pocket when they have insurance. Cue the theme

from “The Twilight Zone.”

A Serious New Problem

I am a professional that has reviewed many non profit

organization's

IRS Form 990s. Autism Speaks Form 990 raises serious red flags.

Serious. This is all from the official filing for 2006.

1. Three members of the Board of

Directors received $2.5 million for

their own organizations.

2. The President Mark Rothmeyer,

just received a 5 year contract for

about $2,000,000 including bonuses with no prior background with autism.

3. The grants are primarily going to those representing institutions

that are reviewing the grants. There is no indication that these

conflicts are independently reviewed

4. The location of this small and new foundation is in very expensive

downtown New York

facilities rented for $200,000 by the institution

that is run by the Chairman of Autism Speaks.

5. A expense of a Private Jet plane for $57,000 was noted. This is

very unusual for a new non profit groups.

6. The head of the scientific review received the majority of the

funds for 2005 for his institution for a data base - almost $3 million

Since the funding is now from the public - and the advertising and

promotion tugs at the publics heart strings with images of families in

need - the funds collected MUST be about those it raises the money for.

The following are all taken from the Form 990 filing

Web Site $830,000

Software for the computer $514,000

Lawyers $440,000

Computers $337,000

Public relations $285,000

Office annual rent $200,000

HR consultant $110,000

Editorial Consultant $76,000

Private Jet Plane for someone that

entertained $57,000

Mark Rothmeyer* $360,000

Bell unknown

Alison Singer $168,000

Mr Ringall $150,000

Andy Shik $110,000

Remember all the above also gets

significant fring benefits that

probably add.

Mark Rothmayer also can get $50,000 more with a bonus a year benefits –

Bob Krakow of A-CHAMP is was

talking about putting together a coalition of organizations and calling

it Autism United.

If you guys are serious about this talk to him. He has put some

thought into this already.

There is no web site, as it

is only in the discussion stage, but this issue might just kick it off.

Ginger,

So you know, Autism United is already formed. We are working on a fundraising walk on Long Island for September 30th, 2007. So far, there are about 10 different groups, organizations, companies, agencies and schools who have come together for this event. Part of the money will go back into the community. Another part is for treatment-based research.

Contact Gilmore if you want to help. More info on this will be posted when available.
