Guest guest
$12K? Lucky you! My dream is to work full time for my foundation. My salary is currently $0,000.00 Yes, that's zero thousand dollars! I probably would have spent the money on video tape, anyway... :-) > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > they are > > not living in our world. Guest guest
I promise that if I ever get rich I will donate to many of you who are worthy on this list- as long as I have money for food, mortgage, supplements, and treatment- that is all that I need. Guest guest
Lenny got it right when he likened A.S. to the BORG on star trek. No, they're not swedish... but this race of cybernetic people that come in and consume all of a world's resources to advance their power... then leave. Smaller autism organizations are now competing for local dollars with Autism Speaks. A.S. comes in, sucks up the local funds... gives the locals gooey feelings inside that they're helping autism... then doesn't DO ANYTHING to give back to those local communities, does it? And they're not funding the kind of research that actually leads to healing our children's sick bodies. That may be on the verge of changing, if what told us holds true... but I absolutely HATE that A.S. is acting like the only game in town... and taking credit for things (like the C.A.A.) when they only came in at the tail end. And what's with the bloated overhead and all those rich salaries? > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > > they are > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
Why are they spending almost one million in donation money that was given by people who want to HELP autistic people, on website development. What a sickening and wasteful organization. 900k could be used to give scholarships for biomed treatments to needy families and actually recover some real children. 900k could be used to do more studies on actual treatments that are working for our children like chelation, hbot, mb12 shots. Instead these fools are in my estimation, pissing this money into the wind. They will never get one penny of my money. I'm beginning to doubt these people even care about autistic children anymore. They've lost the plot. > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone they are > not living in our world. Guest guest
If I win the megamillions... say $60 or $80 million... I'll keep 5 or 7 mil for myself and my family... and the rest is spreadin' around money. You can't take it with you... and it would be better spent providing therapies and services and biomed for kids... then sitting in a bank somewhere. Honestly, fighting for our children has begun to give me a contempt for how money is misspent in this world. As my friend Winnie (my daughter's tutor) told me... even people's cars in this country get better treatment than people do in some areas of the world. My car has a 2.5 car garage to keep it cozy. In the slums of New Delhi, India... there are entire colonies of people who comb through TRASH for food and materials to build their homes. Tuberculosis is rampant and the people live in absolute filth. And I have a very comfortable home with a garage, fenced-in yard, plenty of food to eat... and despite all that cannot afford my daughter's therapies. When you hear about Trump (for example) having a $900K wall hanging in his corporate offices... it makes me utterly sick. That could all but CURE a bunch of kids with lots of biomed and all the therapy they could handle! > > > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > > > > they are > > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
Yeah, but the argument could be made that $900K in promotional advertising could bring in $9 million in donations. You spend cash to make it. I'm more upset some of the six figure salaries these folks at A.S. are making... > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > they are > > not living in our world. Guest guest
I hear you. People who are working for a non profit shouldn't be living the high life off their " charity " . Even if AS makes 9 mill off the 900k, they still won't do anything really constructive with the money like I mentioned below. So it is just waste to get more money to waste. > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > > they are > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
I think smaller, local autism support groups and organizations would be more efficient with that money... if Autism Speaks would leave it alone. But I have no doubt that the folks at A.S. believe they're helping. And there are some good people there trying to turn things around. Maybe they will join us one day... Then again... when we see someone from Eli Lilly sitting on the board at the UK branch of Autism Speaks... I have to take SERIOUS PAUSE!!! > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell > everyone > > > they are > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
But the more money we could add... the less time it would take! :-) I donate every spare waking minute... I've donated my LIFE and will never rest because the life I was looking forward to was ripped away from me by a series of syringes and an uncaring industry that loves money and hates children. > > > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell > everyone > > > > they are > > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
No question smaller organizations could do much more. Any time you get as large as AS, you have to start looking at how politics play a role in what's done. Red tape has kept FAR TOO MANY kids from getting what they need. > > > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell > > everyone > > > > they are > > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
Well, Eli Lilly just wouldn't be Pharma if it didn't follow a money trail and try to get its fist in the pie. It gives me hope at least that is on our side and hopefully one day she will get through to her parents. Perhaps that will turn things around. It is, for the sake of her son, that the s started this in the first place. Local charities would be more efficient. I would love to see even a tiny chunk of what AS gets go to charities that help families that can not afford treatments for their kids or to give a helping hand to overburdened families such as the one who has 6 autistic children, and could desperately use some serious respit help. > > > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell > > everyone > > > > they are > > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
Well, I tell you, my husband and I have been there, " no milk money " , so to speak. We made a pact when we lived in Southeastern Arizona (Hellhole Central-little, " grapes of wrath " town) that whoever got a job first that was decent pay (for that area), would work and the other would stay home with the kids. We knew the kids were different, were waiting for a diagnosis-for 9 months- and did NOT trust anyone other than ourselves with our children. I ended up getting a really crappy accounting job with an idoit that was hooked on painkillers and didn't show up for work most of the time. Then I got a job working as a mechanic (which was my IT degree before I went to college) at ace hardware in their rental room. Woo-hoo! Then I got an " under the table " job in framing and drywall and electrical, because there are so few jobs in the f--king town and I'm not too proud to do any of them. All the while I was making metal art (Traditional blacksmithing) and selling it in Santa Fe and Taos to make extra money. Luckily my husband got a good job eventually in graphic arts/ad design and things just keep getting better! I know we are lucky now, but like many of you, we have definitely paid our dues! > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell > everyone > > > they are > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
I feel the same way. We are very fortunate for what we have now- and still struggle with the therapies-and about 60 % of them are covered by insurance for us. I hear horror stories from parents that have Kaiser, etc.. Then, yes, you look at people like Trump, or the couple that Kim Stagliano blogged about with the botox charity, and you know that these people have never really struggled- at least financially. I am sure that their troubles seem very real to them, but when your self-absorbed, well I don't even want to go on that rant! > > > > > > > > > > > > Take a look at their tax return and that will surely tell everyone > > > > > they are > > > > > > not living in our world. Guest guest
, I will second that. The videos you have put out there are far more powerful than a few words on a billboard along a dusky road. You don't need millions. (OK...you need some...lol) But, you are accomplishing so much more than money can buy. Perhaps the owners of the car should have had more forethought. Hrm. Interesting analogy. -- In EOHarm , " Nanstiel " <erik@...> wrote: > > Yeah, it's like a HUMMER SUV trying to turn around inside a one-car garage.
