Guest guest
Thanks Kathy. Yeah I worked on it maybe for a week when I first did it. I'm very proud of it. --- UrthMan <outerspace@...> wrote: > > Your report was very well done. Guest guest
$800+ in funds in less than 12 hours. Not bad. What's your secret? Guest guest
Secret? None at all. Everyone at FAIR works very hard and donates all their free time to do our part. If folks like what we do, they help out... and we're very grateful and humbled by their generosity. We do a lot with a little. You can call it an " economy of sweat. " It really doesn't take a lot of money to be heard, but we're trying very hard to be heard by a lot more people. Since Autism Speaks posted their little statement distancing themselves from 's views (which is unfortunate), our interview between Kirby and has gone from breaking bandwidth records... to breaking bandwidth records TWICE AS MUCH. I'd call that a backfire, wouldn't you? But thanks, Autism Speaks! Biggest boost we've had in a while! And you didn't even have to mention that it was a video interview at AutismMedia.org! (What's your secret?) ;-) I tease, of course, because I think it is unfortunate that they felt they had to release their statement. I know that the s support their daughter and her views. She said so in the interview. But it's obvious that they also have to keep the Behemoth ship afloat and fully fueled/funded. And they have to keep the peace with the advisory boards they inherited in the mergers with NAAR (and perhaps to a lesser degree, CAN). Soon, Spectrum Magazine's interview featuring will hit subscribers' porches and newsstands. Will Autism Speaks decry that as well? She gives most of the same comments in that article (which is excellent, btw). is an incredible parent and a courageous person. She made a choice to come forward and will no doubt get heat from this. My personal prediction is that her actions and opinions will prove a catalyst for change. And while I don't believe she will lose her parents' PRIVATE support, I am still disappointed in Autism Speaks' statement. How did Best put it? They sacrificed their public support of " on the altar of appeasement. " That sounds about right. I think one day Autism Speaks will join us. Until their NAAR shackles are loosened, the rest of us can come together and fund what we believe in. Autism Speaks is not the only game in town. > > $800+ in funds in less than 12 hours. Not bad. Guest guest
But I can't get the interview because I don't have high-speed internet! Barb Re: Great Job Secret? None at all. Guest guest
Hi Barb, Sorry about that. We may post a low-bandwidth version soon (and to give our servers a break!), but the two hour version is available on DVD if you like. http://www.autismmedia.org/store.html > > > > $800+ in funds in less than 12 hours.
