Guest guest
michelle, we are a week and a half post surgery with noah, age 4.5. we had the same experience with the food. it was tough for the first couple of days when he realy felt well and wanted to eat. it is harder for you, because it is even more difficult to reason with a 3 year old. days 4- 8 were the roughest in terms of pain. that was a struggle because by then he was so sick of milkshakes and he was constantly starving. i think he felt that when his thrat hurt he wanted something there to coat it or wash down what was uncomfortable. (yesterday he said " can i have a piece of pastrami to wash down my throat? " ). he is almost back to a regular diet at this point, and he is definitely feeling better, although he still complains in the morning and periodically during the day. i have no idea what is going on with his fevers, but i know he was " due " over a week ago and he has been fine in that respect. it is obviously too early to tell.......but we're hoping this is it. jennifer T & A Hi there. My name is . My son is J.J. and he is 3 years old. He has suffered from periodic fevers since the age of 9 months. Just yesterday (7/27), he had his T & A. All went well with the surgery and he is feeling great. The only problem I had was that within a few hours of surgery he wanted to eat everything in sight. The doctor said most kids will not want to eat. LOL. It took me 2 hours to finally convince him to eat soup because he could not have solid foods. Today he has been a champ. I am hoping this makes an improvement and he does not have to suffer from the chronic fevers anymore. I will keep you posted on his progress. --------------------------------- Start your day with - make it your home page
Guest guest
Same experience here. My son (5) had his tonsil and adenoids out on 7/20. He ate so much the first day we were shocked. Days 5-7 were the worst-stopped eating and drinking-and the pain was worse than post op. Once the scabs formed, he was afraid to eat. On the 7th night, 1 hour after the Tylenol with Codeine, he asked for a butter sandwich. It's kind of gross, but I think it took his scabs off. All of a sudden, his bad breathe disappeared. Luckily it wasn't premature-so no bleeding. That night he was fine and drank and ate normally. Now he's craving the soft foods because the wounds are tender. COLD WATERMELLON really worked when we needed to get food into him. Be prepared for the 4/5 day-movies, visitors to distract, CODEINE, what ever it takes to get through! T & A Hi there. My name is . Guest guest
My daughter wanted to eat too! I chopped things up in the blender and let her eat things that way and fried eggs kept her happy!
